Usually I hear about new AUv3s from Doug's channel but this time I got the information directly from Waldorf (maybe because I'm a registered owner of a Blofeld with SL extension). So I bought Microwave for iPad already yesterday and I love it! In fact I doubt if I really needed this because I already own so many brilliant software synths but this one revives one of the heroes of my youth. In 1990 I had the chance to try one of the first models in a shop in Cologne and it was amazing! So different then all the others at the time and then the fancy design with the big red knob in this indigo blue case. 😍 Unfortunately I can't afford it back then. Having this Microwave on my iPad means for me primarily a journey to the past. I hope that Waldorf sees the interest of the community so that the make a AUv3 renewal of Nave too. Thank you for the walkthrough Doug! 😎👍

This is great, what a surprise! Love the sounds and this is even without any effects. Thanks Doug!

Waldorf should send you their latest hardware synths to demo, because you do explain things clearly. Great demo. Sold!!

I don't think that's likely, but it would be nice.

I look forward to sound designing a ton of multi layer part presets to bring the Microwave sounds up to 2025.

@@TheSoundTestRoomGive them a try. There’s plenty of manufacturers apart from Waldorf. You’re good and consistent at what you do and have plenty of subscribers.

@@DMTCYMATICSDreamMusicTemple Those is an exact replica of the hardware, it also had the multi-layers, remember that is you use all eight layers you are monophonic, just something to be aware of when you are sound designing 👍😊

Didn’t see this coming! Lovely. Hoping Waldorf still have the code for Nave as well now they’re tickling the iOS world again and get that updated. I’ve got an old iPad stuck in state at around iOS 11 just for Nave even though it does still work on modern iOS levels. One day it might not and then we’re in Blofeld territory of cult following, capable as hell but stuck with some issues. This is a no brainer!

Finally a new Waldorf app on iOS. Not many rackmount module/digital emulations on iPad either. Thank you for this demonstration. 🎹

This sounds great and thanks for the demo, Doug. Does anyone know if it responds to poly-aftertouch. That would be amazing with my Hydrasynth as a controller.

Is this similar to synthmaster................dont want to buy anymore, ill get greif from other half haha, looks decent though. what other options do we have for wavetable synths.

Nave is great. Is this much different or better?
@Emil_m2 ай бұрын
Good question. Nave is the best wavetable synth on iOS imho, can sound so modern. This one sounds like iM1 (based on presets), which is good just different. I might buy it and see if I can get vastly different sounds out of it
@Piktor2012 ай бұрын
This Microwave is the reincarnation of a legacy instrument from the 1990ths. In contrast Nave was released 2013. So Nave had been designed more than 2 decades later and is definitely more modern from it's architecture then Microwave. However the disadvantage of Nave on iPad is that it's not an AUv3 because Apple developed their AUv3 framework later and Waldorf never made a redesign.
@Emil_mАй бұрын
@@Piktor201 yup, I don’t use non-AUv3 apps anymore actually. I’d buy Nave again instantly as AUv3 though. Excellent sound and super fun UI.

What version iOS is required?
@TheSoundTestRoom2 ай бұрын
iOS 12 or later. A really good tip, if you need to know the iOS compatibility of any app, go to the app store, search for the app. Then scroll down till you see the Information section, it will tell you there😊👍

Many of the presets do sound pretty lame. I guess it comes into its own when you start sound designing..
@DMTCYMATICSDreamMusicTemple2 ай бұрын
I’ll devote plenty of effort and time to make modern presets. These will be available in least than a months time. Keep in mind that with some lush reverb and other FX, these older presets would sound much better… but I’ll definitely make a modern preset expansion pack.
@sub5electronics2 ай бұрын
Great man. I look forward to that. Granted, with effects these sounds would definitely sound better..
@ThyWhom2 ай бұрын
im curious what precisely makes them sound “lame”? tons of well renowned songs have odd sounds
@jasonlescalleet56112 ай бұрын
Yeah, effects make the sound. I’ve even heard a Blade Runneresque brass patch without the delay and reverb and frankly it sounded like crap, but *with* the delay and reverb-eargasm. I’m listening to these sounds and thinking “those would sound so much better with some Other Desert Cities and Eos 2.” But then again I am of the opinion that *everything* sounds better with a bit of Other Desert Cities and Eos 2,
@uhuhtapes2 ай бұрын
I love that they are dry. Thats how good synths used to sound. Cant stand when synths have all their presets drowned in reverb and delay without the ability to audition them without. Normally the reverbs I have are better anyway.
