Waldstätterweg trail around Lake Lucerne

Our family hike on the Waldstätterweg, a long distance trail along Lake Lucerne Switzerland. We did stage 7 of this trail from Beckenried to Treib. We visit a big waterfall rushing through the Risleten gorge, walk through flower-filled meadows and ride a ferry back to our starting point. We filmed this hike on 30 May 2019.

Did the hike last week while staying in Vitznau. I recommend, but that climb starting with the stairs is steep at approx 1,000 feet vertical. Just be aware of that. Once at the top it’s a gradual downward slope through forest and cow pastures. Thanks for posting this as we never would have found this hike. Like you we also missed the ferry by 10 minutes. However, right at the ferry dock is a nice restaurant so we had some lunch and beers while waiting for the next boat

We also visited Switzerland during Spring. ❤️We did a video of our visit as well. We stayed in the story book like city of Lucerne. The city is really amazing we can drink from any public fountain. We also went on a bus tour to Interlaken and Grindelwald to have the best view of the Swiss Alps. Its really very nice. Everything is so clean and laid back. Feels like we are in a movie scene. Every angle looks like a postcard. 😍😍😍

Hi! Yes, I think this is fine with a toddler in a backpack. The steep climb was tough but short. Bring some sticks for that part. Otherwise, pretty easy walking. Hope you like it :)

What are covid restrictions is Switzerland these days? Are the stores open? Cafes? Restaurants in some capacity? And is it stable or does this seem to change from one week to the next? :-)
