To be that close and to keep France down to one try. So so proud of the lads effort. Best team against France definitely. Think it broke their hearts to have played that well and not come away with the win. Be very proud lads and look what France did to a strong England side.
@yvesd_fr18102 жыл бұрын
It was not a very spectacular game, but it was a tense and a very tactical one, indeed. Wales was quite good at preventing France from developing the rugby the team usually plays. On the other side of the coin, french defense demonstrated once again its strength and anhiled most if not all welsh attempts to score.

There was periods in that game where France were breaking tackles and making yards with every carry, they played right into Wales hands getting into a game of kick tennis. Running isn't really Jamanets game unusually for a French fullback, but to be honest I feel if he just took the ball to the line a bit more rather than just giving it straight back to Wales so much, France would have just gone through phases, worn Wales down eventually and won far easier. It was pretty obvious, but no one in that French team grabbed ahold of him and said it, they all just collectively accepted that this was how the game was unfolding. The Welsh backline practically spelled it out that they wanted a kicking battle and the French backline just said ok we'll play the match how you wanted it played with zero pushback whatsoever. I think this France team has some great individuals, but I wouldn't be utterly convinced by some of their game management as a team and do think it will cost them in big games, perhaps even against England next. If you look at the greatest AB teams over the years (the benchmark for all us other rugby nations) They didn't just have great individuals, they had teams that were great at adapting to and playing any given match as it unfolded to the strategy that suited THEM best in that particular game. France despite winning both games against Wales and Ireland went the complete opposite direction as the games went on, they are good enough to have won both games, but could easily have lost both games when they really shouldn't have, but it will inevitably happen if they don't start imposing THEIR will on teams better during games.

@matt_dobson06142 жыл бұрын
His hands are on the floor. When you do that, the referee judges you to be off your feet, which you can't be as a supporting player at a ruck. You'll usually hear referees and commentators refer to it as "sealing-off" in this case.

France allowed themselves to be drawn down to Wales' level via a kickfest, then couldn't climb out of that pit. Wales, as their results suggest, are a poor team at the moment. They'll finish just above Italy. This match was bad France rather than good Wales. Last year's luck; such as people getting red cards against Wales; has dried up.
