You guys can and should watch this film. in the original black and white too, just one song was coloured coz it was shot over almost over 15-16 yrs!!! So tech had come in for one of the songs to be coloured. It is regarded as one of the top films of India. Music is worth it. Same genre classics- Pakeezah and Umrao Jaan with Rekha.

Your favorite Deewani Mastani is actually a tribute to an even more famous number in this film (Pyar kiya to darna kya by lataji)... Btw Mughul-E-Azam HAS to be seen in color. The film was partially filmed in color, and it was the filmmakers dream to refilm the entire movie in color. The film was rereleased in theaters colorized, and its top notch. Also, the black & white versions available are of horrible quality, with poor subtitles. It will diminish the experience.

It's not an actual history but the film was based on a fictional play written just in early 1900s, anarkali was one courtesan in akbar Mughal era passed as an example for beautiful & voice and then someone made a whole play out of it. There was no romance between anarkali & Salim.. but as a film it's a classic

You should watch it and I personally recommend the color version bc you can appreciate all the settings, the art and aesthetics something that the director originally wanted to show... this is the most iconic movie of Bollywood I especially think u will like it bc u like the work of Sanjay Leela Bhansali and he's always inspired by Mughal E Azam and one of his main muses is Madhubala...technically Bajirao Mastani both in music and scenery are based on this film Also I think u already know Kishore Kumar so as an important fact... Madhubala was Kishore's wife, Madhubala is one of the most iconic actresses of Bollywood, called the Venus of Indian Cinema as she is considered the most beautiful Dilip Kumar is also considered one of the most iconic actors in Indian cinema and Prithviraj is the patriarch of the entire Kapoor clan... so this film is a cultural heritage for both India and Bollywood

If you want to see it , see it in color. Its the best for their acting and grandiose nature of the film. But plz be warned that the wordings/speeches are pretty poetic so there might be alot of things lost in translation. My mom translated it for me while watching it since its her favorite movie of all time. ❤😊❤
