Brave Girls performed for the Korean army a lot, in 2021 a video of them doing the Rolling song with the army chanting the chorus went viral. That is why it suddenly popular 4 years later, saved them from disbandment. I remember you talking once about wondering how many people listen to a song vs how many streams/view it had. Melon has a unique listeners which is pretty much that, the channel has some charts on unique listeners that are a bit shorter if fancy reacting to those. Know for sure there is a top 75 SM, and a Top 50 YG.

Ikon’s love scenario was an extremely big hit, was even banned in elementary schools cause kids wouldn’t stop singing the song. And they’ve won several song of the year awards with it. Btw brave girls-rollin went viral even though it was released years ago, they sadly missed the opportunity to win big awards cause of the criteria in release dates. Now that Spring Day (V Demo) will be on the new album (just announced a few hours ago), I'm sure it'll go up again :D Well it pretty much go up on charts on EVERY BTS comeback. Brave girls Rollin' became so popular when a video copilation of their stages (+comments of their videos) in the military became viral. In the video you can see the sodiers screaming their lungs out to Rollin and it's amazing and hilarious. The group never really blew up when they debuted but they still kept visitng military bases and performing their songs. The group was practically revivied by that video and it's charting quite well until now. Also they are participating in the show Queendom 2 if you want to check that out. For your information:v, the video chart that you watch doesn't fully describe the top 10 most popular songs each year overall in Korea. which in the video only shows kpop idol group/sub unit songs, solo idols or etc. because of the fact that ballads from several soloists and even trot singers always dominate the most popular songs every year because they are the most loved by the public. In short, in 2021, there will be IU with Celebrity, BG Rollin, IU Lilac, Aespa Next Level & BTS Butter. even in 2013-until now the songs that attract attention and are popular every year are still songs with the ballad, ost, trot genre, and several kpop group/solo idol songs. & some example artist in korea always top in top song peryear like buskerbusker, akmu, iu, heize, zico, yoonmirae,beo,loco, & many mores i forget all name the artist.

Don't know if someone have commented on this, but T-ARA was super huge back in 2009 and the early 2010s. But a fake scandal in mid2012 brought by a former member of them halted their progression and even got them hated by the general public. Not until 2018 that the former member actually confessed of faking the story and several old colleagues of T-ARA came up and defended them. And the public slowly opened up towards the members once again whom are now working in various parts of the industry.

Brave Girls had a rough career. They debut in 2011, they had a lineup changes in 2015 after 2 years and a half of hiatus (they start as 5, continue as 7 with only 2 of the original member, and now they are 4). They were preparing to disband and leave the industry when they got popular in 2020 after a video of soldiers cheering for them when they perform at a military camp got viral. Now they are still popular and enjoying every chance they got to stay in the industry.

Mamamoo specifically earlier years, Sistar, Apink, Winner, Block B etc don't all have many 200M+ view MVs but their songs top the charts . For Spring Day, it was released (and I believe written for?) a terrible thing that happened in Korea where a number of young students drowned while on a boat. It was a national tragedy and so I think that song in particular was, and continues to be, very important for many older South Korean people who wouldn't usually listen to kpop music. Our queen Spring Day never left the Melon Top 100 since its release back in Feb of 2017. It has been charting for a total of 5 years straight and is still on the chart to this day. It's the longest charting song in the charts history and have the highest number of unique listeners for any song in the chart ever. South Korea loves Spring Day. Also BTS "Boy With Luv" is the 3rd longest charting song in the charts history and now Dynamite is following well.

I think one of the reasons Spring day got so incredibly big in south korea is because people have connected it to the sewol ferry tragedy. So it's quite an emotional song for koreans. I think this chart is on idol category. I mean, I remember the overall chart was always dominated by soloist or singer-songwriter, most of them are in ballad genre. In the real chart you'll see IU almost every year, or AKMU, Bol4, Park Hyoshin, Paul Kim, etc

Crayon Pop the ones with the helmets were really popular with this song they even did the premier for lady gaga Eunji is from Apink and yoseob from beast/ highlight they are both main vocal You should really check T-ara :) they are my favorite girl group of all time and they have bangers

rollin became viral after so long because of a fan compilation on a korean yt channel of them performing rollin for the sk army soldiers and that video went insanely viral and it saved them from disbandment, they were literally moving out from their dorm already at the time.

If your confused about Crayon Pop's Bar Bar Bar it was a song that went viral in Korean. I don't remember why it became viral but I did remember one of the members say that thier legs got really buff and strong from doing the dance all the time
