As the English lyrics in "Monster" say ... They're "Creeping, Creeping Creeping .... Creeping in your heart babe" "You can call me Monster (because) I'm creeping in your heart babe." "She got me goin' crazy,." The song's called "Monster" so the words are about acting like a Monster "Don't be afraid love is the way... i'm sorry, you make me sooo craaaazzzy, you know you dooooo." LOL So the floating watch and the car that is on fire in reverse, etc., I think was -- on top of being a metaphor in the story -- them using their powers. They used a snake in this MV because the song is supposed to slither kind of like a snake. If you notice, the beat and rhythm of the song kind of has a creeping slithering sound and feel. They are supposed to be creeping like monsters, so the snake image and feel is supposed to fit the theme. :D However, the lyrics of the song really have very little to do with the story in the MV. "Monster" is one example where if you want to know what the song and lyrics are about you really need to watch an English lyric video. (Which I'm glad you did. Although, I am not sure you actually read the words and thought about what they were saying. You mainly listened to the melody and beat of the song. :D) Because the lyrics in the song tell a different story than the story in the MV. In the song the members are talking about a girl and they are telling the girl that "You can call me Monster" because I know I am bad for you and I will ruin you. I know that when we are over that I will have destroyed everything that is good about you, but I don't care because I want you so much that it doesn't matter to me. So ... "Don't be afraid, love is the way ... you can call me Monster ... because I'm creeping in your heart babe." The song is about possessing a girl and using her up and throwing her away in the end, but the MV really is about EXO's origin story and about the fact that they are aliens from Plant Exo who have come to Earth on a mission and they are searching for clues to help them on their quest to find and protect the Tree of Life from the Red Forces. Each of the members has a superpower that is unique to them and almost every MV will have at least one of them, if not all of them, using their powers. Some say the "girl" that EXO is always singing about and you sometimes see in their MVs is a manifestation of the heart of the Tree of Life and that is why the members are always rescuing or protecting the girl, etc. And why all their songs are about being in love with a girl or being controlled by the power of the girl, such as in "Overdose" for example. Or how they talk about knowing they are bad news for the girl but they want her anyway and they can't help it, but in the end they know they might destroy her -- as they say in "Monster," etc. etc. When you think of the girl as the heart of the Tree of Life, you begin to see even more parallels to EXO's story and even more ways to connect even more of it all together. Also, the majority of the choreography for "Monster" has to do with the members using their powers, so when/if you watch the dance practice and/or the live performances really pay attention to the choreography so you can find the parts where they use their powers. For example: when D.O. makes a gesture with his arms all the members are pulled toward him or pushed away from him because he is using his power of force/strength; when Xiumin moves across in front of the rest of the members you will see them all pause as if frozen because he used his power of frost/ice; and when Sehun stands in the middle of the group the other members shuffle around him as if they are creating a windstorm because Sehun controls wind, etc. This is one of the best examples of how EXO continues their concept and story in everything they do, including in their choreography. Everything, down to the most minute detail, is expertly thought out and planned to always stick to their concept and story. Also if you notice, at the end of the MV when they are saying "Creepin', Creepin' Creeping ..." the dance move they are doing is the signature dance move the creep from the 1990s American girl group TLC from their song "Creep." Do you see the creep in EXO's moves? And you should also make note that their next MV for their song "Lotto" is a prequel to "Monster" so when/if you watch "Lotto", just keep in mind that what you saw happen in "Monster" is what is going to take place after the events in "Lotto", and both MVs might make a little more sense to you then. I'm not positive how "Monster" and "Lotto" tie in to EXOs larger storyline. But I do know, and am almost positive, that "Lotto" is the prequel to "Monster." So if you pay attention I think the story starts out in "Lotto" where the members have somehow infiltrated this big gambling ring and are maybe sort of undercover as they work to uncover a clue or something they need in order to accomplish their tasks here on Earth. I think the underground gambling establishment is run by a gang of bad guys (maybe members of the Red Force.) "Lotto" is where we are introduced to a girl who is being held captive. And ultimately, I think what EXO are trying to do is rescue the girl from the Red Forces or the bad guys, but they are trying to do it without blowing their cover or being found out. So that's why you see in "Lotto" and continued in "Monster" the members are fighting against the FBI or police because the police have come in to take down the gambling ring and rescue the girl, which is also what EXO are trying to do. For some reason the members of EXO don't want to be discovered so they play along as if they are part of the bad guys. But in the end, as you see in "Monster," Baekhyun disguises himself as one of the police and helps the other members escape before they are taken to jail and/or are captured by the Red Forces, etc. As you can see all of the stories in EXO's MVs are connected. All of EXO's MVs and storylines from everything EXO has ever been involved in are connected, including EXO-CBX and EXO-SC MVs and many of the members' solo MVs, and now even SuperM MVs, etc., and it all tells a little more of EXO's story. We just have to pay close attention to every detail and put the pieces together. EXO's MVs are all like one continues drama or mystery. . Unfortunately, to make it even more difficult to understand, each part of the story is not necessarily in chronological order, so we as EXO-L have to become detectives and analyze every aspect of all of their teasers, MVs, song lyrics, albums, choreography and even live performances and piece it all together to understand the story behind it all. To help you pinpoint the powers being used in their MVs and live performances here is a list of the members and what their special power is. EXO-K 💦 Suho (Kim JunMyeo) is the leader of the group and he is a lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control water (Fun fact: Suho In Korean means guardian, as in the guardian of EXO. That's why as the leader of EXO, his stage name is Suho) 💡Baekhyun is a main vocalist and his superpower is the ability to control light 🔥Chanyeol is the main rapper and lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control fire and his spirit animal is the phoenix. 🌏D.O. (Do KyungSoo) is a main vocalist and his power is the ability to control earth (dirt) which gives him strength/force ☄Kai (Kim JongIn) is a main dancer, lead vocalist and sub-rapper and his power is teleportation (Kai in Korean means door or gateway, so his stage name is meant to foreshadow his role within EXO's story.) 🌪Sehun is the youngest member of the group and he is a lead rapper, lead dancer and a vocalist -- his power is the ability to control wind EXO-M ❄Xiumin (Kim MinSeok) is the oldest member of the group and he is a lead vocalist and lead rapper and his power is the ability to control snow/ice (frost) 🦄 Lay (Zhang Yixing) is the Chinese member of the group, he is a main dancer, lead vocalist and rapper -- his power is the ability to heal anything. 🌩 Chen (Kim JongDae) is a main vocalist and his power is the ability to control thunder/lightning/electricity (As you can see, Xiumin and Chen were given stage names that sounded more Chinese so they would fit in better in EXO-M because they are the Korean members of the Chinese group) The Chinese members who were not in this MV because at this point they had already left the group (but its important to take note of their role in the group, so if you watch any of their older MVs and performances, you will be able to follow what is happening more easily): 🐉 Kris was the leader of EXO-M he was a main rapper and vocalist -- his power was the ability to fly and his spirit animal was a dragon 💭 Luhan was a main vocalist and his power was telekinesis (The ability to control things with his mind) ⏰Tao (Ztao) was a lead rapper and vocalist and the martial artist of the group, so he did the flips and stunts in the group's routines. Baekhyun released an album too and broke a record for the highest sales. DO too... ahhhh!!! He is so amazing, like how cool EXO has all the best vocalists. Chen is recognized for his sweet, angelic voice. His clean high notes are incredible! Suho, one of EXO's lead singers, i think, is the most underrated. Well, I just wanted to clarify that the main vocal line actually consists of Baekhyun, Chen, and D.O.. Suho is a lead vocal. Also I feel like Chen is actually VERY appreciated and praised as a vocalist, he's even often said to have the best technique out of EXO by many people. The thing about Exo MVs is its actually more often nothing to do with the song itself but actually about an continuous storyline which started from Exo's Mama where they are guardians with superpowers protecting the Tree of Life from an evil known as the Red Force.
