What's good with SB19 is that they are very hands-on with what they want to achieve in terms of the message of the song, it's production quality and how people would perceive it in and outside the fandom. They really are passionate with their craft. It's not just a random MV but rather a work of art that conveys different messages of what the society has to go through during these times. SB19 Leader, PABLO wrote the song and co-produced it with Sir Simon and his brother Joshua Nase. JUSTIN their maknae or youngest member is the Creative Director for this MV along with the help of ChaptersPH. STELL, the main vocal, also did the choreography in partnership with Sir Tank. JOSH and KEN also added up intricate details in the whole shooting process. As you can see, they don't just sing and dance. They put their hearts into making genuine and precious works of art. It makes me love them even more. 💙 Our PPOP Kings 👑👑👑👑👑
@Angelmokoh_263 жыл бұрын
The whole video tells their story from the scratch to what they are now and what they can still do in the future.In the first part, they told us their story when they were bashed,discriminated and put down.Saddest part was when even the Filipinos did step down on them.They were even judged that they sound KPOP and there will never be a PPOP. They were in the news but didnt stop.They used those negativities around to pull positivities and courage to go ahead! I think JUSTIN is a dreamer.Looking at the Earth but blindfolded.Also maybe he represent people with mental disorder living their own world.STELL hold some seeds trying to tell us to dig and dig,plant something and in the future,there will be a plenty fruits.KEN is like a King in a throne made of junk.He said in the lyrics that he picked up and collected all the trash,and that lifted him up but he keeps telling us that even he has a power now,our feet should always be on the ground.JOSH in real life didnt have an education degree.But on his part he said we are all different but sometimes,those so-called educated people are the worse.And he wont pretend.He started taking off those fancy clothes because that will never define him and what he can do. The Dreamer JUSTIN finally took out the blindfold.Now he is ready to turn those dreams to reality.Seeds from STELL'S hand grew.From the scene when he was holding soil,raining and lightning like a storm,it changed into a clearer nature scene. Then there comes the part when they are in soldier costumes which has a resemblance of Generals during the old times in Philippines.An image of a General signifies courage,focus and determination.Those people they were trying to pass through are the bashers and those who didnt like them.But eventually the same people became their fans and they celebrate together with SB19s music.Then it sounds like it became an anthem telling us that yes,PPOP is real.We have our own sound, our music!Thats why Filipinos,let us all rise our flag!They represent our country but in a bigger picture,they used a flag with question mark which represent each of us to show us that everybody has his/her own fla g to raise. The music video shows what hope,courage, determination and GOD above can do!🔥💙. Ctto.

We were blown away as well, tbh , when we watched this MV for the first time. All of those that you described...vocals..aesthetics, choreographies..were all the outcome of a Filo (Filipino) group collab. Sejun/Pablo the songwriter, Justin as the Creative Director, Josh/Ken/Stell choreography and vocals plus a dedicated team of award winning professionals have made this epic of a MV a reality. The main theme according to Pablo is all about Love and Empowerment. Love of self, country, roots and the sense of empowerment that you'd feel once you rise above the adversities as a result of that love. So much symbolisms depicted in here. Each of them represents the levels of society, and the props (metal garbage for Ken, Iron Maiden for Josh, Farm & Seeds for Stell, Space(confinement and release) for Justin) very well provided the message conveyed in the song by Pablo. And the flag? Could be a symbol of patriotism or oneself's experiences. This MV is an epic in itself and an anthem everyone has to hear. Thank you so much. I enjoyed your reaction to this MV. 💙

Finally. Been waiting for this. I totally agree with you guys, especially when Efra pointed out how the music itself tells a story. Personally, I had the same observation too when it comes to the music. Besides the visuals of the music video and the lyrics, the song is also telling a story through the flow of the beats and the changes in the tempo. It's like plotting a story or watching an entire film just by listening to this song. There was an opening scene, the build up of game-changing scenes (both the rap parts, melodic parts, and the chorus), and then we have the build up of the climax (after the dance break part), and the finale (last chorus with the high notes and all the adlibs that made it more like an ending of a story where the protagonist has finally won the battle) . I'm glad that you guys also noticed the correlation of how the music fits the lyrics and the visuals. Btw to answer Waleska's question, it took them 3 days to shoot this music video. Some of the scenes were really shot at night.

Supposedly, they're going to do a music launch 30 minutes after the release of the MV but they were quarantined because they've been exposed to someone who's Covid19 Positive. You could also check out Servido's Music Channel so you could see how this song was produced if you have time. Thank you so much for reacting to SB19. More power to yoir channel.

What I like about this reaction is they hit some details correctly. They tried to dissect and not just watched. And yes, FLAG can be called WATAWAT, BANDERA, BANDILA in Filipino.

the song represents “YOUR OWN FLAG” not just the country’s flag. IT IS YOUR FLAG. At the moment, what are you fighting for? That is why they use “?” to represent anything. It is a smart play of words using wata-WHAT? It is asking you what are fighting for? But on the other hand it also appears to be a Patriotic song as well. Whatever you view it, all are possible. Initially, this song was produced and written by Pablo the leader and he shared this song embraces Self-love and empowerment. He said “A lot of people still doubt us, denouncing everything that we do and everything that we're trying to achieve. We love what we do, that's why we do it respectfully. ‘What?’ is about self-love and empowerment. Each of us has our own flag. We should be proud of it and raise it as much as we can. As SB19 and as individuals, we know that we're not the best at everything, but that shouldn't stop us from what we want to achieve.” There are several representations as well if you look at it closely. The iron maiden, the trash throne, the universe, the seeds, the news, the backup dancers walking towards them, the costume. I am waiting for Justin to fully explain everything since he is the creative director of this MV. I couldn’t wait to know more about this song. This is everything! What I really like about the song is it transcends every individual’s stories. If you’re an avid fan of SB19 following their stories and struggles you know the meaning of this song for them. Nevertheless, this song is also inspired by people’s struggles, hopes and beliefs especially this pandemic. We will gain again what was lost, closed doors will start to open again one by one. Pablo’s part in my own opinion is about the path and direction he and the group is pursuing. As I have said before after watching What? I fully understand why Pablo said he is more of a Pablo than Sejun. “Di ibig sabihin pag di tinapos, ako’y hihinto na rin” We all know SB19 started as kind of a prototype of KPOP. Because they are under a Korean Company. Also I believe, at the starting part of their career they were instructed and molded into a korean pop idol-like but in this new era, they are starting to come out of their shell. I noticed they started to be themselves when the Pandemic started. Kind of they are slowly transitioning to what and who they wanted to be as artists. They are ready to show new and exciting performances. The humility is there “alam ko naman na di ako pinaka ano? magaling” Neverthless, Pablo’s character as always, “He got no business with all of you, especially the doubters and the haters. He will straightly tell it in your faces. He believes in himself and trust the process. Trust the destiny laid upon them. If you saw in the MV they are in a track and field course, probably this represents the path they are taking, that there will always be competition but they are here to win with sportsmanship. In the MV, he literally run as fast as he can. I believe this represents how passionate they are, how willing they are to push and run farther. The Newspaper headlines said “Ang isang daang karera”, “Hinubog ng Pagsubok”, “Sa Pangarap Walang Mahirap”. This shows their struggles and achievements throughout the years. This shows their stories, their roots, this is their foundation, this shows that they climb several mountains, swam oceans, ran may race tracks and be as far as they can to get here (to where they are right now). It is also written in a newspaper, I believe this represents the values of news proximity, prominence, timeliness, impact, conflict and human interest. It cut across multiple aspects of life and go beyond what is expected from everyone. This part of their career obviously has a part in their lives, it has impact. Also, I believe the newspaper represents the media as well. How the media trampled the boys specially in their early career days and also how some media outlets still manipulates how the people look at the boys. Pero there’s this date February 7, 1867 usually placed at the right corner of every newspaper page. Di ko alam anong meaning netong date na to. I am trying to look for possible historical references with that date but I can’t seem to find one that fits the puzzle. Other than what happened during Feb 7, 1964. The British Invasion launched with Beatles’ arrival in U.S. The musical British Invasion begain when the Beatles landed in New York City that day, and 2 nights later, as Beatlemania stormed America, their performance on the Ed Sullivam Show was watched by 73 million viewers. I really went too far from this one, pero why not? hahaha is this the start of World Domination? Does the boys have a U.S. guesting this year? I don’t know. Hopefully diba? Or this might say something about a future event? Feb 7, 1+8+6+7=22. Ewan bahala na kayo magisip. I love how it transitions to Ken’s part. Newspaper being a trash. “Lahat ng aking basura, pupulutin laging dala, kahit saan pa ako mapunta, lapat sa lupa aking mga paa” Clearly this shows humility. But I am trying to decipher what it means why Pablo used “basura”. This may mean 2 things, your negative past or clearly your crumbs. Your struggles and lessons in life. Cause without it you couldn’t really stand on the ground without weight of your lessons in life. It kinda represents your anchor to stay your feet on the ground. I believe Pablo kind of have references from NF “Real” which is a plain rap. NF’s written response to his haters. NF’s passion for the music he writes, and how he feels that he shouldn’t be overlooked. Which is how I feel about the boys, and I believe how Pablo feels about the group as well. This is NF’s lyrics at the last part of his song “I stand out 'cause I wear my garbage I work my hardest And every time I look into the mirror I don't forget about where I started, woo!” which has the same vibe and meaning of Ken’s part. Also if you look at the throne it was made of trash. Literally a throne of trash. It is like saying there is cash in your trash. If I could think of a biblical representation on this one it is in Matthew 14 when Jesus saved the crumbs. He uses the crumbs, He literally say took up the crumbs like saying “Don’t waste!” But Jesus insisted that they not let the resources go to waste! I fear that this attitude of resourcefulness has been lost in our generation and is the cause of much our financial troubles. We have grown to become such a wasteful society where everything is “disposable” or “one-use”. Garbage gets picked up by big trucks with automated arms from our driveway and delivered to far away landfills where we never think about them again. This kind of detached living from our downstream waste has impacted how we view all of our resources.But Jesus insisted that they not let the resources go to waste! Justin’s part is kind of very mysterious to me. Blindfolded probably might mean. We go through the present blinfolded, only later, when the blindfold is removed and we examine the past, do we realize what we’ve been through and understand what it means. Sometimes we are blinded by the things infront of us, we too focused on the things and not noticing details around us that matters. It is like a camera lens, if you focus on something it will blur the background or the foreground especially if you are using a wide aperture. The world you see is created by what you focus on. It is never too late to adjust your lens and focus on what’s important at the moment and you will surely capture it perfectly. “Mahiwaga, bawat nakasarang bintana. Sakin dati, lahat ngayo'y nagbubukas” Wherever you look at this, kahit sino makakarelate. Timeless lyrics, this might be a representation of what happened during the pandemic but I see that this represents SB19’s past. Remember when Josh tweeted a few days ago saying “Dati fillers lang sila sa mga events pero ngayon”. I always love the quote “When One Door Closes, A Window Opens” Some doors are not God’s will for you to enter them and God closes it for your protection. It probably isn’t the right timing. I also love that Pablo uses “Bintana” rather than “Pintuan” because you know usually a house have many windows but only have few doors. This means, there are multiple channel of blessings on their way more than what is expected it is really up to us to wait, trust and also move to get what we deserve. Other representations are kind of literal, there’s sunrise, birds flying, seeds growing symbolizing Hope and Growth. But more than that, why Universe or Galaxy? I am not pretty sure why Justin chose these things. In my own opinion, there is no mystery more fundamental than that of the meaning of life. We find ourselves on a stage without a script, so we naturally seek a purpose and wonder: What’s it all about? Universe usually represents But beyond recognizing what is out there, we could aspire to make a difference to the world by defining new challenges and striving to accomplish them. Sometimes most of us have always been driven by the desire to understand something new about the universe that would change our cosmic perspective and stimulate our aspirations for space. It is limitless the same is true to what the boys aspire for their careers. Next is Stell’s part. “Daming sakuna, di ko ininda andito na ako sa wakas”. If you really know them, their struggles you will understand how powerful this line is especially the “Andito na ako sa wakas” I am just happy seeing the boys reaping what they sow. You know the reaping and sowing principle. As we all know, Stell is a kind of a farmer in this MV. It shows how strong their foundation is, though they struggle and faced tragedies in their career, it didn’t budge them but keep on keeping on. Shows how strong the roots of their foundation is. Chorus part is Patriotic and loyal. I believe Pablo intentionally chooses the words to play with our minds. As I said, it is limitless. It can be patriotic to our country, to our flag but it also means passionate about one’s dreams and goals in life, being fervent about one’s visions and missions in life. This tells us to fight for our principles, believing in ourselves and empowering ourselves. It doesn’t stop there but they thank God for everything. We are all nothing without God and I like that Pablo still remembers His God despite their success. I am still not pretty sure with the costume’s representation though. It looks revolutionary, pride, and power. I believe there’s an explanation

Josh’s part is too intense by the bars used in his part, the visual representation but other than that the lyrics. “Pare-parehas lang tayong may pagkakaiba diba? Ika nila, ibang mundo nakikita niya. Mabuting iba, di' gaya nila. Pikit ang mata, ang tama, wala. Ahhh?” This shows how amazing our brain and environment affects and determines the way we see things. The world exist as you perceive it. It is not what you see, but how you see it. It is not what you her, but how you hear it, it is not what you feel, but how you feel it. Sometimes the environment and the place we are situated affects how we view things in life. I will give you a representation of this one. This may be a representation of the upper class, middle class and the lower class of the society. You know we perceive things differently because of our differences in life. Our experiences, financial status, educational status, spiritual beliefs etc. But again, Pablo uses “Mabuting iba, di' gaya nila. Pikit ang mata, ang tama, wala. Ahhh?” Mabuti ng iba, kesa sa wala. It tells us the importance of having the truth in us. Pero something in me tells it means people usually are blinded by the truth either by choice or by influence. Freeing yourself from having naive innocence personality, we tend to be bias with things and at the same time acting innocent by intentionally blinding ourselves with the truth so we can be perceive as neutral and innocent. If you know what I mean. If you could also see Josh has a fallen angel tattoo on his chest. The deep meaning of a fallen angel is the loss of innocence. It is a yearning to recover the feeling of divinity, or get to the core of innocence that is locked within Iron maiden is supposed medieval torture device consisting of a hollow iron statue or coffin in the shape of a woman that is lined with spikes which impale the enclosed victim. Let us look at this way, it’s the Middle Ages and times have been tough for a peasant like yourself. Drought and a subsequent poor harvest have devastated your people and widespread famine is around the corner. To make matters worse, taxes have been raised because your rulers are warring with other rulers. Seeking social justice will mean rounding up real people and stating your case. You’ve been branded a traitor, treasonous, and “taliwas sa alam nilang tama”. When you go against them, you are not with them. So there you are, a brave warrior of social justice who only wanted some respite from the demands of the authorities or the majority, or the norms, or the standards of the world. (Do not look at this politically okay, but if you want it that way so be it) So what I mean here is we have our own social, political, personal flags we wanted to address and wanted to fight for and at the same time we all have different principalities, authorities, standards, etc we are subjecting with our decisions in life. It is like asking ourselves. What is important for us, what are the things hindering us from achieving things in life, what are our goals, what are the things that motivates us, what are the things that pushing us to go higher, what are the things that is pulling us down from where we are. This song literally pushes us to be aware, to be informed, to be know the truth, to fight for something, for ourselves, for our family, for our friends or for the society. 20 - 20, paulit-ulit Intelihente, subalit ngunit Basag ang lente, pinunit punit Hinubog ng dalagang bakal, sirit tssss It only shows, regardless of the educational and financial status of a person, if we choose to be blinded by false information we can’t really wholly embrace the truth. Our experiences and definitions of things matters and we need to stand for what we believe in as what the lyrics said “hinubog ng dalagang bakal”. Being raised by the iron maiden is such a powerful metaphor. The possibilities are limitless. Also, it emphasizes the differences. I believe it means being respectful and being objective to one’s beliefs and principles in life. We can always inject information and principles without being judgemental. I just love the words and how Pablo uses each word. Literal man o figurative. Pero one of my favorite lines “Maniwala, darating ang mga biyaya. Higit pa sa lahat lahat ng nawala” I believe everyone of us can relate to this line, especially after the pandemic. After the 2nd chorus, we have a dance break.That is phenomenal but after that is exciting. “Wag n'yong sabihin sa'kin. Kung ano'ng aking dapat gawin. ’Di naman kayo natutong makinig” This is literally their message to their doubters and haters. They will continue doing what they love even if people criticize and denounce them. Believing, there will come a time, slowly showing the people their passion, character and purpose transcends and illuminates the minds of the people. Kaya pala sila sikat, kaya pala sila kilala kasi ganito sila. “San man dalhin ng hangin. Ang aking yagit suot parin Di mag papanggap na ako pero hindi. Daming sakuna,'di ko ininda. Andito na 'ko sa wakas” This is literally a start of something new for them, a start of a greater, higher and deeper meaning in their careers. More achievements and more lessons in life, again with humility. Also, props to everyone involved. Every detail is mindblowing. Remember the backup dancers they are wearing camiso chino, isn’t that very Filipino? tapos icocompare niyo sa iba. Hello? Also the use of red and black colors in flags. Black often used to represent determination, ethnic heritage and/or the defeat of enemies while red stands for power, revolution amd vibrancy. Other meanings include courage and domination. This is the start of SB19 revolution, domination and determination. Again, people will always have their preference in terms of music. I respect people who doesn’t like SB19 but what I would like the people get from this song/MV is the meaning behind everything. For them to be objective. If and only if they have the chance to interpret and understand its entirety before judging their looks, their concept, their music, their costumes, their sound. The boys dare to take the risk and be bold with their choice of music this time and I am loving the path they are currently trying to traverse. One last thing, di ko pa magets why they choose to include the 1734 Murillo Velarde Philippine Map at the end of the MV. Ano sa tingin niyo? Basta I think What? is just an introduction to the awesomeness of the new era. I am more than excited for Ikalawang Yugto
