Nice! I went to the tank museum pre-pandemic with my dad, but we didnt have time to see the conservation centre. Absolutely amazing place the museum.

Back in 2012 I had the opportunity to do some work experience at the museum as a young lad. It was around the build up to the first Tiger day if I remember rightly and the museum's workshop had only just recently acquired the M60. They took me for a tour around the building that once stored these vehicles before they built the centre as we know today.

If they wanted to display the Russian tank at 19.00 how easy would it be to get it out of the hanger?
@TheArmourersBench2 жыл бұрын
Not too tricky, only half a dozen vehicles between it and the door I think.

Next time you go there, could u please ask the staff to bring back some of the audio tracks and the lights to the trenches as I mentally miss the old experience so much. You don’t have to go there and ask them, you could even at least contact them via phone or email. If so, thanks friend :)

World of tank blitz....

At 2 minutes you can see a radiation hazard warning on a Sherman. This is because the control panel dials are fluorescent with radium. However you would have to break the glass and lick the dial for a year to have any effect. Ultimately the tank museum will spend a lot of money and destroy a lot of artefacts on this. I’ve seen it happen before. Especially aviation collections of night bomber kit. Total overreaction.

@Wallace Carney Unfortunately the act is so vague that it allows management to overreact to minor risks. You may be better off considering the Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 and Approved Code of Practice and guidance. But even they wouldn’t concern themselves with such low exposure.
