Walk-Away Split

An easy way to successfully increase your honeybees is to make a walkaway beehive split. It's a relatively simple if you have a full beehive and there is a good honey flow in progress. Spring is coming and the bees will soon be flying. New bees need time to build a solid colony before one attempts to make splits.

I'm really hoping for a great spring flow so, I can do just that. But, I want to have enough strong hives to have a good honey harvest, too. First attempt to graft queens is on the agenda, too.

36 here today, bees doing cleansing flights.

Warmed up today. Now rain for 5 days. Hopefully, the bees will manage for a month more of winter. Looking forward to blooming Red Maples.
