Basically one chord shape, one major scale pattern and the composer of this piece created a timeless melody that evokes so much emotion. Just goes to show that, in music, it's not how much you know but what you can do with it.

Perfectly done! I bought the 45 rpm record on Dolton label in 1960 when I was 10 and still have it. Just love this song and thanks for doing it justice.

The history of this is amazing.....Johnny Smith used the progression of "Softly as in a morning sunrise" and created "Walk Dont Run". Chet Atkins, who thought Johnny Smith was God did a cover of Johnny Smiths Walk Dont Run in that Chet Atkins boom chick style.......then the Ventures heard that version and came up with their variation and created the iconic surf rock theme everyone knows. At this time Johnny Smith had managed to cut off the top off his index finger while flying his plane and while in hospital the royalties starting flowing to him from the Ventrues. I love the Ventures version but the Johnny Smith creation trumps them all. Shows what comes out of Jazz into the mainstream hey. I have a vague memory of Benson and Hedges using the johnny smith version for an ad back in 69.

What appears as an A major chord sounds like an A minor chord. The notes are showing a C# in the chord, but I'm hearing a C natural.

@mghumphrey10 ай бұрын
Never mind. I just recreated the tabs myself. You did a fantastic job on this. I did notice one tiny difference between your tabs and the Ventures rendition: in measures 31and 71, you have a hammer from D# to E, but I believe the Ventures play this as a quick slide.

Why can't you include a "Bouncing Ball" to follow, along the music? Seriously, it would be helpful for some of us, and a marketing tool.
