i will always love this song , no matter how it's sang , I use to watch my Daddy sing this song in the choir he was in , back in the 60's , my daddy sang Bass, it will stick with me for as long as I live , I can see my daddy marching in the choir clear as day , no need to make negative comments about how a song is sang, so disrespectful , singing to God off key on key , God hears it all ,

Yes but to be fake and phony, pretending like she did a good job singing this hymn when clearly she didn't is disrespectful as well.

To some individuals, The soloist did over did it but to me I guess she lead the song how the Lord guide her to sing. You never know what she was feeling at the moment. I am proud of the Soloist for taking all the criticism and didn't take it personal at all. She wasn't even hurt about the Criticism. That was the anointed of the Holy Spirit and Oh but God that shows her true walk in the Light of Christ. Please continue to use your God Given gifts.

I don't see why everyone is going after the soloist so much, so yes, I would do fewer runs and perhaps different ad-libs but I don't think that it threw the song off at all. Both tunes "Walk in the light" and "He's shining" had a lot of pauses that needed to be filled by the soloist. I think that she supported the choir very well!

I’m laughing at these comments. Praise is PERSONAL. That was probably how SHE was sending HER praise to God. Little Deniece Williams??? IDK. I love these old songs. We as younger vocalists should never forget the old landmarks. I can appreciate all forms of praise. To GOD be glory. Ain’t singing about no man, baby momma and whatever else the world thinks is relevant but walking in the light and WHO’s shining???? Y’all know we used to be in those musicals til 2:30 in the morning tryna hear everything choir. Now we can’t stand church more than an hour long. Lol! Y’all be blessed nah ya hear? Is it possible for you to listen to the message this song and ignore your fleshly inklings? I watched this video and felt a desire to worship, not comment on the soloist's shape. Please, as the song says, try to just "Walk in the light" and skip the darkness! Gosh!!!
@yeshuachristdrivenandinspi69988 жыл бұрын
David Allen I did not care her shape but went over board with the vocals. You can over do it and she did
@kevinfreeman12568 жыл бұрын
David, I agree with you wholeheartedly. It took me back to my early days of music ministry in Cleveland, Ohio with Richard Smith and Daniel Cason! They had some singing choirs back then and I had to truly play!! lolol...

David Allen, some people couldn't be honest if their life depended on it. Fake as a $3 bill. If you place something on video to 'public', then be prepared for people to comment on it. Sometimes it can call attention to things that are not flattering, and they won't make that mistake again. But when you are fake and you lie and pretend it was all good, that person will continue to make a fool of themselves.

The organist and the choir were awesome, but come on y'all, I'm not being mean but the soloist was HORRIBLE and hard to watch, and everyone who has viewed this video knows it. She can sing but she made it about herself, she over did it. I hope that someone had the guts to pull her aside and let her know that when you are anointed you don't have to "force" a hymn, it will flow naturally. To all the fake and phony people who are on this post trying to pretend this was acceptable would probably be the first ones to talk bad about her behind her back. We should not criticize people who are using their gifts to praise God, but this was a woman trying to draw attention to herself, and made a fool of herself in the process.

This is a perfect example of how NOT to lead a song. Complete over-singing! She never allowed the song to “breathe” or establish itself. And by the end it’s a complete disaster! Wow.

The lead is doing wayyyyyyyyyyy too much. It takes away from the beauty of the song.
@damiet96525 жыл бұрын
It's good, could have been great if the choir director was not so full of herself. She was horrible at timing. The good thing though the choir followed her. The acapella part almost had the soloist overworked with the choir director missing timing and que from soloist. The organist should have come in to aid the choir. I hoped she had fixed this error for future performances.
@christmaswife105 жыл бұрын
as the soloist, thank you. years later, this still is painful. these comments are HARD to read. i probably shouldn't. my skin is really thin around this ONE song. i hate this song and the comments don't help. these people have criticized everything to include what i was wearing. but in defense of the director, we were ALL new to each other - choir, director, musicians. this was our first performance (but my last of this song). i scroll through the comments looking for good things. but the bad one things stay with me longer.....
@debbrapogue27024 жыл бұрын
aNetha Christmas girl you better let go and let God. I don’t always feel songs because someone requests them of me. But they usually reach God’s intended. We are vessels not performers. If God gave that to you, use what He gave you. You owe no one an explanation and they don’t have the right to evaluate something they didn’t give you. Minister anyway. My songs that I don’t like usually come with Sister so & so saying “Baby you shole sung my song!” In my mind, it was slaughtered. But hey, if she likes it I love it. Nothing wrong with stretching, that’s the only way to know how far you can go. Be blessed and keep singing. Watch God!
@MrLewis9293 жыл бұрын
Are you crazy?? The choir director, organist and choir were AWESOME. The soloist COMPLETELY destroyed my favorite hymn and its really sad because she has a nice voice. I feel she was trying to "grandstand" and draw all the attention to herself instead of singing the hymn in its traditional form. This backfired on her and she made a FOOL out of herself. Period

@@neetxmas Hi, if you are the singer of this hymn you have a beautiful voice. My comments were not meant to tear you down, in every comment I posted, I acknowledged the fact that you can sing. I hope you realize that unfortunately most people are disingenuous and phony. They will smile in your face, give you fake compliments, then tear you down behind your back. I'm not that kind of guy, and I wasn't raised like that. My comments were honest and blunt, and how I really felt after listening to this video. If I was your husband, I would love you enough to tell you the truth, not what I think you want to hear. You over did it on this particular hymn, and it just didn't sound good. I saw your video of you singing "Be Grateful" and it was AMAZING, the best version I've ever heard, you are truly gifted. My mother always told her children the truth, regardless of how hard it was, and we are better for it. No disrespect intended, I wish you the best.
