@onemanstampede9881 that's a good comment, it's like that fire with fire saying isn't it , we all know if someone comes at us with bad intent, they get it back, if it's given its got to be taken . For me the idea that martial arts is defence against bullies is paramount . Hello gracie only supported the idea that martial arts are to help the weak protect themselves from the strong, kano judo he didn't agree with competition , it breeds conceited individuals. There are alot of really awful demos of Japanese arts, weird ones of Russian arts, most people don't attack then although they could we know its kinda pointless, finding some old video saying he can't fight oh whatever, we all know they are demos . Back to your comment personally I find if we approach a teacher or person with a open mind we can learn from them, when we don't, we can't find anyone to learn from . Thank you happy training ☯️

@ShorelineTaiChi lots of great chen and other tai chi people here. But challenging without them knowing online doesn't count . There is even competitions if you want to challenge yourself or others , those people normally go to them. ☯️

Good interview but if I may offer a critique. Perhaps less interrupting the guest? Good stuff though looking forward to more from the channel.

Thanks for sharing. Been watching Alan's videos lately. Even subscribed couple months ago. Don't agree with everything he says, but I think what he's doing is fair. Controversial, but fair. I also think if anyone is afraid of what he's saying, it says more about them than him.

18:19 oooh Clive...publicly says yes, than privately attacks and changes the agreement, then threatens about sharing private conversation...that's such covardly behaviour, just say no to the challenge publicly and it's all fine...

Alan misrepresented his style of arguing and his own reasonableness. Naturally he thinks of himself as more reasonable than he actually is. I blocked him on facebook after an interaction about a jon jones spinning elbow video. I pointed out the flaws with using the technique and that in many circumstances it is easily blocked and makes you vulnerable to chokes or strikes to the back of the head. Alan’s response was to claim (and abusively repeat) that i said i was a better fighter than jon jones and that i thought i could kick jon jones ass. Those were not assertions that i made. So he is blocked because he doesnt want to engage with what people actually say. An honest part of this video is where he admits he’s not really interested in connecting with people who may have had different experiences than himself. Most people dont have interest in engaging with someone whose intention is to look for ways to embarrass. Instead of seeing the lack of engagement as a problem that Alan should fix in the pursuit of knowledge, Alan sees the lack of engagement as evidence that his perspective is correct. It’s self-reinforcing…. One might even say it’s a form of self-hypnosis. “I am right because nobody wants to play with me and prove me wrong.” The lack of curiosity about why people arent engaging and the disinterest in resolving the issues to pursue knowledge is clear. The taoist style of nei gong training i learned is not at all like what Alan described here (not physically intense the way he described). And that’s okay. But it highlights how diverse the martial arts world is and how important it is to be truly open to different perspectives.

Nice essay on how I hurt your feelings so much. I’m sorry me pointing out that possible the greatest mma fighter of all time knows a bit more about striking than you do. The fact you think joeys interview was respectful whilst criticising mine should be a huge red flag for anyone for anyone considering taking your opinion seriously.

@@indefenceofthetraditionalma well we agree on that. You want to assume jon jones is infallible just because he is famous, and believe that no one is allowed to point out some obvious flaws in what he is showing or doing, which is problematic and illogical on your part. I guarantee even he himself doesnt see himself as infallible. And ALL of the things i said about spinning elbow were valid critiques. That you’re continuing to propagate the “jon jones cant be criticized” fallacy does indeed show why i blocked you.
@Nicklous200

And as you admitted yourself, you’re a third-rate amateur. So, your opinion that jon jones is infallible is indeed reflective of that.
