For all those who think his state was pitiable etc. IT WAS NOT.. he was a more down to earth person than all of us together. He always had a choice and he chose to live that way. And that is more appreciable that anything else. That's the purity of his soul. His only love was his music and his instrument. The way he smiles when he talks about his shehnai can never be seen on anyone else's face. But NDTV please think of a better guy to interview. He was so much hasty and lacked the necessary emotion to interview such a passionate person. Thanks to his(Ustaad's) humble nature that he never noticed that glitch, and was happy talking and sharing his experiences. Rest in peace Bismillah Sahab. You are irreplaceable.

I am fortunate to attend his shehnai concert in a marriage function in Nellore dt some 50 years ago. Some of the local musicians made a beeline to meet the legend. The warmth and happiness he expressed towards the artists is still fresh in our minds. The simplicity he shown at that time reflects his sitting on an ordinary cot and living simple life.

My feelings is such that Mr Gupta is obviously fortunate enough to have shared a seat with him in the same sacred cot while interviewing him. The man was not only Bismillah Khan, the great Sanhai Artist and a Bharat Ratna award winner. He was definitely one of the Indian Saints, similar to one in Upanishads. Mind his body language, smile and the tone, full of self belief, during his interview when he was saying that apart from the One there is no concept of Dualism.He must have realised it in his life by the grace of Almighty, otherwise how could he say that what is inside the Temple also exists outside the Temple and upon touching he did feel it. Only very few person can say that I feel it. Thank you NDTV for recording this historic interview.
