I absolutely love Jamestown. I just went there back in 2020, and it was a fun trip. Loved the way they preserved the colony's artifacts. Virginia is literally one of my top 3 favorite southern states in the US. The other 2 being Louisiana and Tennessee.

hmm interesting. Virginia wouldn't be what I would call a southern state but who knew.

Back in mid 90s me my mom, sister and brother-in law went to Jamestown. On one of the ships my brother -in law and I helped to raise a sail. It's amazing how small the ships were that carried the settlers across the Atlantic Ocean.I think it was called Jamestown Festival Park when we were there. Have also been to Colonial Williamsburg

A big part of the early colonization was Indentured servitude. Wealthy plantation owners would pay the way for poor laborers to immigrate from England and they were forced to work it off in the tobacco fields for 4-7 years. The landowners got 50 acres for every laborer they brought over .It was called the headright system My ancestor cane to Virginia at age 18 as an indentured laborer for William Byrd l in 1675

As a resident of the original Gravesend (Gravesham) - The place many of the ships who travelled to Jamestown from (1607 onwards) and the burial place of Pocahontas - this is one of the places in the USA I would love to visit. Really enjoyed the tour 🙂

Thank you so much for showing us this exhiibition. Im English so this is our history too although its rarely spoken about here, its seen as US history and nothing to do with us except that a ship left our shores. I dont want to visit the US ever but am glad to see this online. Glad they dedicated so much to the subject of enslaving people from Africa

Man I just love your channel. Thank you for sharing VA. Turns out, my family has a long history here, all the way back to...the starving time. And then some. Anyway, again, not sure I'll ever get to be able to see this in person, or any of the fab places in your videos (esp the old or rather remaining "plantations"), so sincerely, appreciate it all! Be well and Happy Thanksgiving!

Very good job 👏 presenting the tour of the site. I loved your video. It is sad how few people watch such history and travel videos, such as yours. Was considering doing a series of similar videos but seeing the turnout I think I will pass. Doesn't seem to be worth the effort. I myself find historic sites and museums, the stories they tell to be much MUCH more interesting than reading fictitious stories. Unfortunately the majority of people don't seem to agree with me. Anyway, I hope you continue making these videos. I really enjoy watching them. Then again I'm a history buff, some would say a history nerd. Proud of it. Lol. Thanks again for all your effort in making these videos of yours. P.S. I really want to visit this place myself now, it looks so interesting 🤔, thank you for making me discover this exists!

Do you intend to come to Smithfield Virginia and do some work? There is plenty here. I try and get out to see a lot of it, but my mobility isnt what it used to be. I appreciate you getting out there.

I did not even see this video but I went to wllimsbarg I suck at English. Btw when we went there I’ was surprised we payed 50 dollars for for for for for 3 sofas 2 enttire houses thing made together 3 fans like a 10 restrooms 3 bedroom even me and my brother got a entire bedroom kitchen sofa and tv we even got mc on. We went to the fort and went to James river I’m just became 18 my little brother is 5 and he’s atstuic do we made sure he dosent fall into the river. We went to the ships and went under. The deck we went to the top. And we saw the entire river. Then we took a walk at James town and looked around nothing really happened the other days we where there so. You should make a video about Destin. Honestly I really want to go there again but in cooler temperatures you should go there in October September. BYYe

As a VA native & scion of Jamestown settlers, I enjoy your vids. Am thinking it’s time to use the phrase “enslaved people” rather than “slaves” though.
