A walk tour in Secaucus, New Jersey, USA from behind Red Roof Plus hotel on Meadowlands Parkway, in the riverfront of Hackensack River to all the way to the downtown part of the town, which is the area of Paterson Plank Road at Front Street. I walked parts of Meadowlands Parkway, Swan Plaza, Wood Avenue, I crossed the pedestrian bridge over Route 3, Flanigan Way, 6th Street, Front Street, 3rd Street, and Paterson Plank Road. Filmed on May 27, 2024 at 6:26 pm. Temp was 71°F / 21°C.
Secaucus, NJ is a town located about 4 miles west from New York City. It is located in Hudson County, and has commercial areas (mainly plazas, and offices), residential areas, and industrial areas. It has an area that is considered the downtown, that has a main street and some other streets around that has businesses, and is located about in the center northeastern part of the town. It is bordered by the Hackensack River to the west; East Rutherford is just across the Hackensack River from Secaucus. #secaucus #newjersey #walkingtour

When you turn down 6th Street, at 840 6th Street my grandparents used to live there. The house is not there anymore they knocked it down after my grandparents died it was a nice double lot and the people that bought the house knocked the house down and built a new house. You walked right by it. That was like the year 2001 when they built that house. My grandfather died in 1999 and my grandmother died in 2000.

Secaucus is really a good place to live I know it's really really really really really expensive now to get in there but it was nice I basically grew up there I was 5 years old when my parents bought the house there in 1970 and I lived there until 1982. I went from kindergarten to 12th grade there. Excellent school system I mean they really taught you well learned a lot.

Okay wow I don't know where to begin, in 1979, 1980, and 1981 we used to swim under the route 3 westbound bridge. I was like 14 years old in 1979. We actually had a rope tied to the top rail on the top of the bridge a long long rope that we used to use to swing from the shore out around the first or second piling. I remember one kid he jumped off the rail into the water and he ended up dislocating both shoulders. It doesn't look that high but it is pretty high. The water is about 12 ft deep. Right there at the shore, I know because I jumped into that water one time and my feet reach the bottom of the river and almost got stuck in the mud, OMG I remember that moment as if it happened today. 😅😅. That hotel Red roof inn wasn't there at that time, actually there was like not much around here at all. If I recall right where The Red roof is was like a storage yard for some kind of construction like a state highway construction storage place. It was fenced off and we couldn't get into that it was secure. Yeah it just brings back so much memories. And some of it is kind of scary because I'm thinking now as an adult what the heck was I thinking LOL. We used to crab in that river too, just up the road a little bit towards like the end of Paterson plank road where it meets at the Hackensack River, we use to crab in there, we used to get lots and lots of crabs they were delicious. Can I remember also when we used to swim there if you kind of stood still a little bit like just floated in the water these little fish called what we used to call them killies, they were attached and suck on to you like leeches like little leeches. I remember one summer I got a really bad ear infection, they had to actually drain my ear twice with surgery make an office surgery because my ear kept building up fluid behind the eardrum and also that same year I got a really bad ringworm infection. I believe it was from swimming in that River LOL.
