Fond memories of my dad’s grey 1.5 (possibly a Deluxe?), registered I think in 1963, Reg No 280 VTG, bought at about 2 years old. I learned to drive in it, 3 speed column change and all, and passed my test in it in Swansea in 1973. Had my first and second crashes in it too, one my fault, the other not but I learned a lot from those experiences on how to avoid bumps, which I have pretty much ever since. Brilliant car, which replaced a 1959 Anglia when the family outgrew it. Thanks very much for the video, which is excellent.

Nice car, all the best to you.I like the colours. Here in the USA we imported some Vauxhalls not many, but when you saw one people often would say `what country did that car come from? love those old british cars, Hillmans, Rovers,Fords, and the lovely Vauxhall .Vauxhall was sold through Chevrolet dealers.Greetings from the USA 👍

My late dad worked at Vauxhall in Luton and took delivery of a brand new FB in March 63. Its colour was identical to yours and I remember it as Niagara Green as we chose the colour as a family. . I have many fond memories of outings with mum & dad in Bedfordshire at weekends from 63 to 65. Thanks for sharing this. A lovely example you have

My first car! Cor blimey, it was 2nd hand and PINK! Factory pink finish. Amazing to hear that familiar Victor exhaust burble! Your car is maybe even in better condition than mine was in 1977 - it was quite old when I had it. Amazing looking vehicle with the bluff front and beaver tail. Modern drivers won't believe me when I say that 3-on-the-tree is absolutely the easiest manual to drive.

Thanks so much for sharing this video. It brought back memories of our family car which was a 1962 Super in alpine green. We used to travel as a family of six with mum and dad in the front with my 3 year old sister between them on the front bench. I would be on the back seat with my brother and other sister. All of us kids are now in our sixties but I can remember how proud we were of the old victor.

We had one - I've got a pic of me with it on Motor Rail down to Cornwall. We had the optional fog lights but other than that same as yours with bench front seat and 3 speed. I can't for the life of me remember if we had the optional screen wash or heater. Hearing you operate the handbrake - god I remember that fine ratchet sound from 50 years ago when I was a kid

Best English car for getting your leg over. In winter, drive a few miles, warm up, great heater, pull over, leave running, hop over the back, proceed with the act. Great memories. Had about four of these and never paid more than £30, never serviced, never broke down. Sold em all for a profit.

To Paddy 4799. Me being psychic - would I be correct in assuming by your name, that you're Irish? If you never serviced your cars - yet sold them all at a profit - that would be considered " The luck of the Irish!"

Lovely condition. I learned to drive on a ‘64 Victor with a 3 speed column change taught by my father in 1966. In ‘68 he traded it in for a 101 Victor. To be perfect should have wing mirrors not door mirrors.

Wonderful video! .. I owned one of these back in 1969!:-) it was my first car and exactly like yours in this video .. the body on mine was perfect except for the floor that was rusting because of all the salt used on the roads here in Montreal Canada ... btw my steering wheel was on the the other side (front left:-) ... I drove mine a lot - many miles for one year and a half .. now I miss that little puddle jumper!:-) thank you for this ... the memories came flooding back .. especially when you were driving! .. What a beautiful condition car! I liked all the Victor models, but this is one of the most elegant cars ever made - not just Vauxhall! And how shiny it is! I'm sure your wife will appreciate the delicate colour! Different colours for different folks! I was very taken with the sort of sky blue one my friend's dad had, and took us out in!

I did my apprenticeship with vauxhall, these were the first cars I worked on including the viva and VX 490 the Viva was the first with rack and pinion steering. These were delivered to the garage new covered in very thick wax . Just to add, my grandfather bought a new Vauxhall Cresta in or around 1953 it was maroon and silver. The seats were maroon and beige the front bench seat had emblems in gold of the vauxhall trade mark ( brand ) I can't quite remember whether it said Vauxhall or Cresta. It didn't take long for the whole interior of the car To smell of StBruno pipe tobacco that he was continuously smoking.

I'm another who's dad had one - a 63 model: brought back memories this, playing with that rear seat ash tray, that wine as you change down (my dad had the column change swapped out to the 4 speed floor change). 8 of us, plus luggage, used to pile into it over to Blackpool for a week's summer holidays! (If was ever on the motorway for too long, especially on a hot day, it would overheat!) Btw no need to buy new hub caps: coca cola and tin foil will bring those superficial rust spots off - have done it myself recently (videos on here how to do it)😉👍

Super! I had a VX4/90 version of this briefly that I bought as a project and then sold on once I got it running. Shame I never got to try it on the road, I always thought it was a very stylish car and like all Vauxhalls, very much of its era.

That handbrake is supposed to be fly off. When you turn it then let go it should return all the way down. Back in the day of all round drums, I used to take the wheels and drums off about every 6 months, clean out all the brake dust, and roughen the shoes and drums with emery cloth to remove the glaze. That way the brakes are as good as they can be. A servo would be good if you can find one that fits the Victor. I had a 1959 Victor which also had belt mounting points. I think the reason was that Vauxhall exported them to countries which had already mandated seat belts. The engine was really quiet. I was stuck in the works car park with the engine running and a guy came over to talk to me. After about 5 minutes he decided to lean on the front wing, and only then did he realise the engine was running the whole time, and that was with 80,000 on the clock.

The "Crackling sound" is the rust eating its way through the bodywork made up of the cheap Italian steel that Vauxhall bought. The Vauxhall Vollocks (Velox) was another fine example.

06/10 22 Reduced cc on later models ? Why was that ? Cut my head on the 90° corner of the boot lid after dark when a youngster. Dad taped strings to underside of the lid to prevent reoccurrences. We re-linnedd the drum brake shoes with a propriatory kit that included brass rivets during 6 year ownership. Included keyless ignition setting feature too. Glove box carried log tables on Summer Hols to calculate mpg averaging around 40 with almost 1600 cc. Change from £1 for 3 imp gall's with attended service !
