In Chile the California poppy is called dedal de oro (golden thimble) or flor del tren (train flower) because it usually grows along the railways. It is said its seeds came mixed with wheat that was discharged at the Valparaiso port and from there they traveled through the whole country following the railways. Most people here don't know it is an introduced species.

Is amazing what Mother Nature can do wonders,and humans will destroy it seconds. I’ve noticed on the other side of the freeway as I pass by this crazy traffic there aren’t no orange flowers.. Please just enjoy the view and leave what Mother Nature created..
