My Dad worked at Walker Naval Yard when I was a child and I remember the tours of the ships that were arranged for the workers' families and watching the launches. Keep up the good work!

Yes I've been on the Northern Star, the Empress of Canada and the Empress of England. Dad was a foreman caulker, and I saw a ship, I dont' remember which one as I was quite small at the time, launched with a coconut with the launching party in beautiful saris. I used to wait for my Dad coming to the gate by west Walker school after work before we moved to Kenton. @@livingonthetyne

I first went there aged 15 on the refit of the Northern Star liner. 1963. it was busy and had strict rules for the workforce. I t had the biggest platers shed , the longest bank to the main gate. Later I worked on ship launches there.
