Congratulations on the birth of your Daughter Sierra. Based on her parents and their influences, that's very likely the next Joan Wullf/ GSF CEO sitting on your shoulders there, lol. Hey, I'll never forget the time I was there wading out in the middle of the E. Walker trying & get the right drift when Brownzilla's Grandpappy came porpoising up a few feet from me. I had no clue there were Brown's in there capable of eating a full grown midget. I felt like Hooper when he was setting the chum line for Quint & he nearly lost his arm to a 25 footer. This thing was a gnarly, giant hook jawed predator easily capable of mowing down multiple chipmunks, ducklings or even an unlucky baby fawn. No, I never saw it again that day. It was the biggest Salmo Trutta I've ever laid eyes on, no doubt. However, interestingly enough, I just inherited a 2500+ sq. foot- 5 bedroom cabin right there in Bridgeport. It's supposedly awesome, my Sister just went up for a week & says it's amazing. My names on the title & I haven't even seen it yet. Unfortunately, I've had 6 surgeries over the past 4 years, so I've been disabled but if I continue to heal, it looks hopeful that I'll be making trips up there next season. Listen, I would seriously consider letting you GSF'rs take 1/2 my cabin "It's a Duplex" for a few days in exchange for a serious "On the water" tutorial. I'm tired of continually doing it wrong. It would take you 5 minutes to identify my weaknesses & point me in the right direction. Let's think about it. I live in Victorville so maybe this fall we can meet up @ Hesperia Lake and kick it around. Bottom line, I've been a trout freak since I was a baby. Eastern Sierra's every weekend till I moved to Montana in my 30's . I've spent tons of time on the water, learned to tie & throw flies, always trying new methods yet still compared to You, I suck. There's gotta be just one or two important little idiosyncrasies that someone like you could identify. Anyway, we still got 4 months till the Mojave River Lassen County Salmon run, lol...until then, Go Easy & God Bless the GSF!!

E Walker is back!.......25 years ago it was hard to fish less than 6lb test, you'd break off too many hogs on 4lb....I hooked a few browns that spooled me!...lost some 7-9lb hogs....used to fish a dace colored streamer.....the big browns feed on speckled dace minnows deep in the big pools. That was 20-30 years ago......not sure if the fish are as big as back then, but there seems to plenty of them now!

That’s awesome 👏🏽 there is some big fish in there for sure time to time one or two get pulled out . I’ve been fishing the sierra over 20 years but never tried the walker back then .

Fishing line has gotten ALLOT better in the past 20 years. Nowadays you can absolutely land monsters on even the cheapest 6lb. Nylon line and especially if your drag is set properly and you play the fish well when you get a beast. I’ve caught 5 lb. + fish on 3 lb. Trout line.

Only a couple of things I miss about California. Fishing those rivers and IN-N-OUT burgers.😊

I LOVE Browns…all trout but especially Browns! I have some nice smaller MegaBass lures like the R62…I’m gonna switch out the treble hooks for some barbless single hooks. Tight lines and tight women. 😀

Browns are definitely always fun .🎣

Would the setup your using work for different kind of tackle such as lures ? Or is this specifically for jigs ?
@GoldenStateFishing6 ай бұрын
Oh definitely work for lures also but it is too of the line the rod is about $400 and the reel is a Japanese shimano Stella about $550

Hello there, I was wondering what type of braid do you like? Running on that ultralight set up there and what pound is that braid? I’m setting up an ultralight rod right now and taking a look at different options
@GoldenStateFishing7 ай бұрын
It’s our Sinister strand 4lb or 6lb it’s super small diameter for ultralight. I show all the colors at the end of this video but please check them all out on our website

The East Walker never fails! Caught a 26” brown on a streamer years ago and I’m sure there’s bigger ones in there. Nicely done 👌 but there’s only browns and rainbows no cuttbows. Also be careful because there’s rattlesnakes there. I encounter at least one majority of the times I’ve fished there.
@GoldenStateFishing7 ай бұрын
Thank you 🙏 i almost stepped on a diamond back . But I use to catch rattle snakes especially Mojave greens and milk them for anti venom and I owned lots of them so I pick them up when I see them but know what I’m doing. I love snakes 🐍

There are LCT in there. Very very rare catch though.
@KimchiJerry4 ай бұрын
@@joey1957 According to multiple sources, LCT hasn’t existed in there for many years. Now Browns, Rainbows and Whitefish are the main fisheries.

Hate to be that guy but might be a good idea to get your daughter some sunglasses or some kind of eye protection. So that way it's more enjoyable for her as well, and no need to worry about eye damage from glare from the water(or any sun to her eyes) for long periods of time. Besides that she looks like she's having a blast with mom and dad! Killing it in Kern river! I haven't been up there in over 10-15 years. Miss going up there, now even more eager to get up there with the family! Happy fishing!
