Wore single and dbl (when req'd) hearing protection for yrs in the Navy, around machinery, pounding on metal in the shipfitter shop, etc. I'm pushing 66 yrs old, and my hearing is still top notch. Wife and I bought Howard Leights for the range, and am impressed with the electronic ear pro and how it immediately dampens the gunshot noise.
@jager68635 жыл бұрын
The Howard Leight Ear Pro works best if you wear them properly, not backwards, like in the video. The two Microphones should always face forward, like the Walker's Ear Pro. This may also explain the issue you had with fitment. Other than that, excellent, informative video as always. Don, can you use your influence to get all the baseball cap makers to delete the stupid metal button at the top, as when you try and wear ear pro, the button acts like a drill on the top of your head. Even gun makers sell ball caps with the stupid button on top.

sootch00, thank you for always bringing out good well informed videos out here. However I am afraid that these earmuff does not brings down noise level down to 23dB but reduce harmful noise level by 23dB. Noise level at 85dB aren't healthy to our hearing and this protection will bring down noise to a comfortable level of 60dB +- 3-5 dB. Lawn mower at 90dB up to Rock Concert and Gunshots at 120dB are too harmful and definitively ruins our only once in a lifetime hearing. As always, I stand corrected.
@googoo-gjoob Жыл бұрын
what ive seen is this explanation.... take te NRR, minus 7, divided by 2. THAT is the db reduction. this was quite disappointing. 23 minus 7, divided by 2 = just 6db reduction.

Very important. As a kid in the 70s, I had WWII and Korean Vets teaching me how to shoot, and several had hearing issues. When you see a photo of canons going off back then, look, the guys have their mouths open to try and equalize the pressure, but it really did not. This digital ear muffles, which actually allow enhances hearing with protection.. wow, those though be Military issue. This is a low amount of money to protect your hearing.

I think NRR Noise Reduction Rating means they lower the decibels by the rating amount. Not that they lower all sound to the NRR amount. So the higher the NRR rating means the more they lower the decibels. NRR 23 would make a 100 decibels sound like 77. I use NRR ear plugs at work that are in the 31-33 NRR range. Low to mid 20’s NRR is on the lower end

@johnbellinger24945 жыл бұрын
The ear buds look nice but how well will they stay in place. Experience from other bluetooth devices I've owned says they will fall out with moderant movement. At a cost of 250 or so, I'll stick with the bigger,cheaper ear muffs. You can't lose them doing drills on the range.

Reduces noise 23dB, not down TO 23dB. The newer Comm module is nice to install on these Razors. Same frequencies as the common FRS/GMRS walkie-talkies use. Many Razors are not stereo though, hard to tell which direction sound comes from. Not all have the Aux. recepticle either. Good products, just do your research to figure out what you need compared to which model you need.

Hey Sootch - maybe you can help me out - I have been hard of hearing all of my life and have worn hearing aids since I was 11. I can function with hearing aids. The electronic ear protection that I have tried do not give me enough amplification for me to be able to hear. Have like a 50 decibel loss and am below the level of comprehension. (I know that I am not the only one with this problem). I enjoy competing in two gun matches (have the RO tap me on the shoulder when the buzzer goes off). Not being able to hear on the range is why I have never taken a class - can you see if Walker might be able to make a set with a little more amplification for us hard of hearing guys and gals?
@bradleybrittain90995 жыл бұрын
So.. What I'm assuming these do; they protect ears from the actual sounds while having an audio based input which outputs similar to an active recording? Cause gunshots, suppressed or not don't "translate" equally in a video with audio. Suppressed shots at times sound louder than an unsuppressed one. I'd like clarification on this, seems interesting.
@TheRealJimmyLundy4 жыл бұрын
Ok at 3:15 you said they will drop anything over 89db down TO 23. Sure you didn't mean to say it will reduce by 23db??? So 89-23 = 66 and if a sound was 100db it would reduce it to 77db.

I have the walker razor slim and was going to give them to a friend but they were so bad that I didn't. They sound like a tin can and have this loud hissing constantly. I can hardly make out what people are saying. The directional hearing is almost useless. I would rather just use passive. The only pros that I can think of is that it feels nice and is comfortable. If you only tried walker razor slims and howard leights your whole life, they're okay but you can do much better for just $60. Walker isn't a bad brand, I have the powermuffs from them and they are incredible. I picked them up for $60 and they have lifelike and realistic sounding hearing across the whole volume range and amplify well. The directional sound is near perfect.

Look into the 3M peltor's as well. I have a pair, and love them. Think I might get a set of these as well, because the 3M's do everything the Walkers do, but not bluetooth. The 3m Peltor case is much nicer, more durable. Charges the same, and waterproof, seems bomb proof actually, and much smaller. If you want to get up the bluetooth, would be something else to look into. Also, the 3M's have an add on foam piece called the skull screw, that really pulls down the NRR. Squishy foam tips, that literally screw in your ear hahaha.

Imagine someone breaking into your home and you have the walkers and you hear the sounds of the Badguy but you don’t know what direction it’s coming from! LOL! the Howard’s preform like natural hearing. To test this sit in a chair with both models and close your eyes and have someone make noise from different sides of you.
