Walking a Waterfall & almost falling in - Scotland Winter Vanlife Travels

As the weather starts to clear a little it allows us to get outside and explore more of scotland on foot and on our bikes, the only downside to this is the fact we seem to be very accident prone lately and in this video we both nearly put ourselves in hospital.

I came off a motorbike at about 5mph in a Morrisons car park. Made the mistake of riding over a painted line in a crossing. The front wheel went as soon as it touched it. It was winter and the crossing had been shaded by the building so probably had ice on the paint. The roads on the way there had been dry. I must have hit the ground wrong as my shoulder broke. I learned my lesson and stopped riding slowly 😊

Glad you and Mandy were OK with your falls. My sister and her husband bought E-bikes and went for a ride, first time for both of them on E bikes, we are all in our 60s, my sister had a fall on it and broke her arm. So when I saw the thumb nail for the video, I thought, Oh no I hope she didn't break anything. Happy to see she did not. Love and Hugs to you both and stay safe.

I'll tell you what try falling off a large electric bike, that's what I did, and it was really hard to pick it back up again. Glad to see Mandy is OK.

Nasty fall there, so pleased you were wearing your helmet, I see many that don’t. Very lucky not to have any broken bones. Well thank goodness Mandy faired better than me. 😱 I came off my scooter in Albir (Spain) and it turns out I’ve torn a tendon in my shoulder which will take a few weeks to heal. I thought Mandy had done the same judging by how she was laid. Glad you’re both okay. 👍🏻

So pleased neither of you were seriously hurt but guys it's Scotland in the Winter, please don't do these tiny trail tracks. Our country is beautiful but dangerous and it could take a while for emergency services to reach you depending on how far you go. Some great drone footage with sunsets over water, you really have become skilled. Take care.

If it doesn't feel right don't do it I'm glad you are alright I fractured my elbow just coming off my bike in the middle of the road over a year ago I'm 56 now so things are not as robust anymore. It's taken over a year to get better. Good to have adventures but tumbles can become more serious. Xx

I suggested Arnica for John when he hit the tree, it looks like between the pair of you, you need a bulk order of the stuff. I thought Arnica was an old wives tale but a long time ago I broke my collar bone, the bruising was epic. My whole shoulder went black, blue and purple, my mum told me to get some Arnica, well she didn’t really tell me she nagged me into getting it. I put some on the bruising and took some Arnica tablets and the bruising and tenderness seemed to go in no time. After that I was convinced and now keep some in the cupboard, I’m just as accident prone as you two! Never tried steak with bacon and cheese, I’ll put it on the must try list. Yet more stunning scenery and video.

As someone who has never driven a car and get around by bicycle all my life--I am more like Mandy and don't enjoy biking in bad conditions or bumpy mountain trails. Glad you are both okay. Lovely video!

Just a quick one that's the first time I've seen them with the blinds shut. I can only imagine they are new. if you look when the blinds are open there is a massive star scope in the right hand side as you look and the wooden boot has a sign that's not vey nice. Ray K UK YNWA.

Great video as always, poor Mandy, Johns heart must have stopped as you went down, we could hear the panic in his voice. Glad Mandy was OK. Tough lady! I have ridden a MyRider. Great e-bike but can be a bit twitchy even on a normal road with those little wheels. The other bike has bigger wheels and chunkier tyres so probably steadier on this sort of track. Hail to the helmet!

They’re both very stable, as I said in the video that I’ve ridden all those tight & twisty tracks on the Mirider and it’s fine.

I wish you had been at Glencaple when the tide came in. We were lucky one day and the site was amazing. It’s like a mini tidal wave going up stream and canoeists were riding on the wave. It was “epic” 😂.

Well, that was a heart stopper! My first thought was how in the heck is John going to get help way in the back of beyond? But Mandy wasn’t broken, just bruised and battered. Adding this to my ‘Dumb ways to die’ list. Ride full tilt on a bicycle down hill on wet rocks. It’s right under explore a wet rocky steep hillside over a huge waterfall and sled downhill toward trees and rocks. Y’all take care out there now, nothing ruins an adventure like broken bones or a funeral.

Ouch !! I cringed when I seen Mandy crash. I had a heavy crash on my bike before Christmas and ended up with a broken collarbone and metal pins in two fingers to reset them .🤦 Glad Mandy got up without anything serious . Martin

I was almost afraid to watch the video when I saw the preview picture. I am glad you and Mandy were able to get up from your falls. And please tell Mandy that it is okay to say no if she really doesn’t want to do something. She knows her limitations. The scenery that you were driving thru was beautiful. I probably say that word as often as you say epic. But it is the truth. Even in the rain it looks great. I am sorry the Scotland trip is going to be over but I am looking forward to what comes next . One of my favourite park ups at the quay, glad Mandy didn’t break anything, I slipped walking the dog last March, just on a normal road and fractured wrist in two places 2 days before sons wedding and when just about to head off for full time car life lol, these things happen. Take care.

Sorry about Mandy's fall, she is a soldier, Don't know if you have be but its a shame you went all the way down to Tin Drum because a right at Campbels Castle would of took you to a beautiful place through the arches of Invergary , But saying that the 16 ounce steak at Invergary hotel would not of been nowhere near as good as the steak you got But the parking past the co-op is free for motorhomes. I've seen that "distressed" clothing costs more than normal, so Mandy may have increased the value of her new trousers? After I took up motorbikes aged 24, I rarely rode a bicycle afterwards. I felt very vulnerable without the leather suit and crash hat.

Ouch!! "Glad no-one was watching" thought Mandy as she waited for the pain to start. Moments later Gadget John arrived with camera rolling. "S**t! thought Mandy. 😅. Seriously though, I'm so glad the heroine lives to fight another day with only a few aches and bruises to show for it. Needless to say, it could have been a lot worse.
