I used to make skateboarding videos in downtown Detroit from 1996-1998 and I can tell you 100% the difference today is mind blowing. We would shoot right on Woodward Avenue on the weekends sometimes and there would be no cars or people anywhere and all the storefronts were vacant. We could probably have shot guns off and nothing would have happened it was so deserted. Glad to see it back! I spent a-lot of time in Greektown on weekends in High School! I miss Pizza Papalis!

I took a virtual tour of Downtown Detroit at one point while riding an NJ Transit from Edison to Penn Station NY. I love Detroit much more than any city the Tri-State Area. I picture myself in Detroit when riding any of the 3 major transit systems that operate in/out of NYC, whether it’d be the LIRR, Metro-North, or NJ Transit. Fun fact: My KZbin channel bio reads, “I’m basically a guy residing in the Hudson Valley Region and an elite MTA & NJ Transit Rail Commuter/Trainspotter who loves all things Detroit Metropolitan Area.” My Instagram too since 2021 has more followers coming from businesses and people from Detroit Metro Area cities rather than local to my region (although there are still some)

Nobody go "downtown" no more. Unless you are a city like Montreal,Toronto,Las Vegas,New York and a few more really. I mean i live in Vancouver Canada, We get 4 Millions visitors per tourist seasons a year. Otherwise you will find yourself walking 2-3 blocks on your own unless its white colars hours. And its the most international city in Canada and i think 4th in North America. Downtowns are for crackheads, shows off and partiers mostly nowadays. I don't see what's wrong with Detroit here. It has a bad rep but still a beautiful city with history.
