Walking Foot Don't Walk Easy DIY Fix and Adjustment Solved Sewing Machine Presser feet won't lift

Fix a walking foot sewing machine that doesn't walk or has uneven presser foot lift. One simple adjustment described here will fix the issue, and only requires a 10mm wrench or oversized flat screwdriver. Plus, I show how to adjust the wingnut for high or low steppage depending on material thickness. Ok but my walking foot really don't walk. The feed dogs are not moving anymore.

Popped safety clutch? Does the hook still rotate? Or it could just be a loose screw under the machine.

Seems to have been reversed on my machine (1541) as instead when doing that the small foot dropped. So what I did was lift it up in what I thought looked like a good position, compared without fabric and I could get a 5mm allen key under both with feet with a snug fit (so both feet at same step, which also resulted in a easier turning of the hand wheel, I have thought it was off from the beginning since the back foot always lifted a bit more, but had not thought too much about it again afterwards, until now when I saw your video 👍👌

Yes, adjustments will vary from one machine to the next, but many have a similar mechanism. Basically, all walking foot machines should be set so the outer presser foot and inner vibrating presser lift symmetrically. Best of luck with your machine!

Another helpful video! I recently watched a video by The Workroom Channel in which she mentioned this wingnut. I went and looked at mine but I either hadn't listened properly or just didn't understand what she said, but now after watching this I do! I shall check my feet tomorrow!

Hi there! I have a Pfaff…545 H3 (just got it a bit ago) and I noticed today when trying to sew a zipper plaquet that I could sew over it, then noticed the inner foot was hardly rising, then I notice the feed dog only goes back and forth and not up and down? I’m assuming the feed dogs should up and down motion as well (it was sewing well..) are you able to help me with these 2 issues?

Those are two separate issues. First, adjust the walking foot steppage as shown in my video. Basically just put your feet up on 2-3 layers of material and loosen the screw on the back of the machine. Let the foot drop down to the material and re-tighten. As far as the feed dog, it is height adjustable, but may or may not have 4 motion drop feed. What does the brass placard on the front say? Something like CLPMN.

If it doesn't say "P" then you don't have 4 motion drop feed.

Yes, it's either an earlier model without 4 motion drop feed, or perhaps a specialty machine without drop feed. Carpet binding machines, for instance are ordered without 4 motion drop feed. Be sure to watch my "Everything Pfaff 145" video for model specific adjustments. Once you get the walking foot working right, it might do everything you need.
