Alzira (Valencian) or Alcira (Spanish) is a lovely town located in the province of Valencia, Spain at 44km southwest of Valencia. The Valencia-Alicante railway is passing through Alzira. The town has around 44 000 inhabitants.
Alzira's climate is typically Mediterranean. On the day of walking in March, the temperature reached 23 Celsius in the middle of the day and then dropped quickly.
Alzira was founded by the Muslim Moors. During this time the town was a cultural hub. Also is stated that the Alzira existed in Roman times with the name Saetabicula. Historically it is been a walled town, surrounded by palm, orange and rice fields.
There is an interesting old town central area with buildings with a lot of history and sunny squares. The Alzira walled circuit can be seen even today restored and preserved. I filmed part of it in this video.
Enjoy the walking tour.
