Earlier this week this James Bond fan discovered your blog. I re-watch OHMSS about every two or three years and I did so again just two nights ago, Christmas Eve. Have since viewed videos on the big OHMSS50 shindigs at the Schilthorn/Piz Gloria. Such fun! I've never been but someday I shall. Great stuff, thanks. (BTW, a little Google-monkeying seems to indicate that the Miramonti Majestic Grand Hotel is open!)

8:34 If you look closely at the scene in FYEO when we first see Bibi, there is a partition between her side of the rink and the area surrounded by the wooden amphitheater. That is where Bond gets attacked by the hockey men. I confess that for many years I thought it was an indoor arena with similar wood seats. At some point after 1981 the amphitheater was completely enclosed with a roof.

This video was really useful for me as I went to Cortina for the first time today. I only went for one day and got there from the Venice area by using 2 trains and a bus. The ski jump was deserted, but it was fantastic to walk where Roger Moore and the crew were 40 years ago. I also walked up to the door of the Miramonti hotel which was completely closed. There was a car at the side of the hotel, but nobody came out. Its website is still active and there are reviews online from a few months ago. The sign by the road is very smart. It might open only during the skiing season. The Dolomites were incredible in the sunshine.

Only just seen this. As a Bond fan. Went skiing here 25 years ago. Purely because of the movie. Was amazed talking to locals. Nobody really knew about Bond. But they all knew about Stallone’s Cliffhanger movie which was filmed there. Did go down the Bob sleigh run. Which was amazing in a bob. Side note, skied in Cervina, Italy where Willy Bogners team were skiing. So good to hear stories about them filming the movie. They did give me the nickname 007. Purely due to my build and skiing style was similar to Roger Moore 😀

Nice video, my mother is from cortina and she was a teenager when they recorded the movie, I can tell you the hotel is still open and the bob is going to get a renovation before 2026 olimpi games. Right now, in a couple of weeks cortina will also host the world ski champioship without public due to covid but the city is coming back to its highest levels. Also, behind the bob start there is still a piece of the bob’s track with an hidden start in the woods

If you haven't already I would make yourself known to James Bond production company , reason being you could be offered the next person to play the part. I think who ever played Bond all did a great job. I liked Roger's sense of humour and for me he had the edge plus of course he was naturally blessed with great looks , smooth looking. Loved this! Could you provide a bit of a location map? The ski jump was in a nearby town Zuel some 2 miles away from Cortina. Where was the bobsled track?

It's super easy to find. It's just outside the main town (in the opposite direction to the ski jump) and there's a sort of kids outdoor adventure playground that a small part of the track goes through.

You forgot to tell that the stuntman Paolo Rigoni died during the bobsleigh scene. That ski chase is incredible and very risky.
