the facades of the buildings are 17th century. the roofstructures often come from the 15th century. great video

Leiden was quite a poor city in the later 18th and 19th century though, so there was hardly any expansion. However, sometimes older buildings received new façades so what looks like a 19th century house can hide a 17th or 18th century interior. Conversely, sometimes houses got built in a "historicizing" style that makes them look much older than they actually are. It can all be quite deceptive.
