I am walking in Petionville, Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Petionville is one of the modern suburbs of Port-au-Prince. There is a lot of nightlife and restaurants here. This is a bustling city and there is a lot going on.
I started my walk from Royal Oasis Hotel and ended at Pompe Gasoline Sol. I showing the streets of Haiti and everyday life.

Lol. The good people of Haiti just kidnapped for a ransom 2 doctors and 4 nurses that were providing assistance to the victims of the recent earthquake. But I'm sure there must be some good Haitian in the island.

I was in Haiti in 1984 and loved it. I'm surprised and happy at how good things look despite the political problems that are always in the news. I really hope Haiti can improve the government and living conditions for the people because it is a beautiful country with great people.

In my opinion, you cut out the best part. Don't get me wrong, your walkthrough videos are some of the best being produced of Haiti, hence why i am here. But conversations you have with the locals are of even more value because as a outsider to the country, it gives us a great insight into the people of these towns. In the future i hope you include that footage of your conversations with people on the street.

@Robert Hamilton Port au Prince represents only 20% of the country, this is where we find corrupt politicians who can easily be bribed by some opportunistic foreigners. if you've done business there you know the clintons have held this country for quite some time, money from the earthquake and so on, again thanks to the corrupt politicians who love to hug the foreigners behind. I am sure you know that my second home has enough natural resources for every Haitian to live a prosperous life in their homeland. But unfortunately France, America and other foreigners did not let the first black republic shine. i'm not hating, I'm just stating facts.

Although Mr. Greatness posted on KZbin this walkthrough while in Petionville, Haiti during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. I just wonder was if this walkthrough happened DURING the pandemic. I saw no one with any face masks for the virus protection. It is like no one was worried about getting sick. It, Petionville, is also rumored to be a well-off section of Haiti compared to other sections of the country. We did see upscale, late-model automobiles while he was walking. Thumbs-up for doing this on foot and not drive-by.

My father inlaw is from Africa and his church ( 7th day adventist ) went on a mission back in 2018 and he ask me what to expect when he went to Port Au-Prince and I told him to relax it's just like West Africa. When he got back from his 2 weeks in Haiti he was like " I love it and yes it was just like being back in Africa". He was travel most of the central-Africa nations and was excited about Haiti. I have to agree that Haiti is the closest you can get to being in Africa in the western hemisphere. My cuban friend is going late in 2021 and I keep joking his last name is Canet and that is not-so-common Haitian last name. He lives in a primary black and Haiti area of North Miami fwiw. Royal Oasis is on the main road. It is super easy to walk to everything. El Rancho is in a cut. Personally I like Royal Oasis but I hear good about El Rancho too.

I grew up in Petion ville but why you choose only to show people only one side of our City we also have nice places there and many luxurious appartments and hotels best western ,Marriott etc.. it will be better if you walked where painting and different works of Arts were exposed near CARIBE hotel ,the flowers market too you walked in the streets of vendors true butt Petion ville is more than that...

Very good to show a map at the start of the video ;), I should do that too!! Did you shoot with a hidden camera and why? You think it'd be dangerous to film openly or that they wouldn't like it?

USA instead of burning billions into Afghanistan should of helped rebuild Haiti and build farms for poultry, cows, rice marijuana, coffee, bananas, eggs, casinos, ports, Hotels, because that area in the world has great environment for agriculture and then for future generations the suffering of this particular group of humanity would finally be over. I would also say make it crypto currency friendly The only huge problem that would have to be worked out is the corruption with the police and the horrendous gangs that murder. Good education is also a very important key for a good culture. These people live day by day meal to meal god help them.

Very interesting. Thank you. Would like to see more in other parts of POP and other cities also. A question however, and this could be for probably most Caribbean countries. I notice that most of the men, not all of them, but a large percentage of the men wear long pants. I know this is from January but it is still hot there. Is it frowned upon for men to wear shorts for some reason? I would think because of the heat, everybody would be wearing shorts. Like I said, I've noticed this in other Caribbean countries also.

Some West Indian countries are quite conservative, and the style of dress is a reflection of a certain orthodoxy -- likely a carryover from religious traditions put in place during colonization. Just guessing, though.

The standard dress wear for men in the Caribbean is long pants. The people are used to the heat, they were born and raised there, so your body is used to it. Actually I don’t know what heat you’re talking about, it’s just a tropical place where the sun shines every day. It’s summer all year round. It’s NOT like the humidity experienced in America during the summer months.
