3:03 Birger Jarlsgatan. It´s a very long street stretching through the whole of Norrmalm. This is the northern most part. Birger Jarl (1210-1266) was the founder of Stockholm and also considered to be one of the founders of Sweden as a country.

Don't they have a statue or something of him somewhere?? I'm remembering someone on the eastern side of City Hall (toward the bridge)??
@Kaffemosterful2 жыл бұрын
@@Nels_P_Engstrom Yes. There is a statue on Riddarholmen - Birger Jarls torg. And uutside City Hall there is a cenotaph for Birger Jarl. Because he is buried elsewhere, in Varnhem, Västra Götaland. Why? That is a story too long to tell here.

thanks❤.....beautiful and informative❤....places like "street food markets" are good for filming....Where people sell their local products on a specific day of the week...these places are interesting.
@StockholmWalks2 жыл бұрын
I agree, those places are nice. Quite rare in Stockholm though. Here’s one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZ2tl5Vqd7ONeMk

Very nice little area, always appreciate your history lessons. You were very close to the Stallmästaregården Hotel again, hope the north end of Hagaparken is still on your "to do" list someday.

Glad you liked it! Yes, very close to Stallmästargården. I will definitely film more in Haga, but the next months won’t do it justice. Here’s a tiny part of: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZoDIq62BityFmrs

@@StockholmWalks What?? Didn’t know you had any North area filmed, looks really cool, especially without any snow. I found a channel with film of King Oscar II in 1897 Stockholm, plus of early 1900 Stockholm. Fascinating.

There is part of my town also called Sibirien, for the exact same reason, now also embraced by the city.Unfortunately no sign of cat butt lake or city block
@StockholmWalks2 жыл бұрын
Really? Siberia must have been a well known at the time. Perhaps thanks to Dostojevskij? And there must have been some fascination for cat buttts… Did I mention the cat butt block on Södermalm here or do you have av exceptional memory?!
@franbric56402 жыл бұрын
@@StockholmWalks Yes, it's quite possible that Dostoevsky had something to do with the name.Funny enough, in our Sibirien it's always a bit colder than in the rest of the city, so the name fits by all means.You did mention cat butt block in one of the videos where you walked around one block(with different name) and it stuck in my head.My memory, well, let's put it this way, it's like a Swiss cheese
