He showed how the people were in that border town. It would be foolish to believe the experience that we saw in this border town is indicative of other regions of the country. I traveled the world for almost 5 years in Europe, Eastern Europe, North Africa along the Mediterranean and a half dozen or so various countries along the coast of Africa. Most of South America with the exception of Chile, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana. Just over 100 countries in my lifetime with the majority in that close to 5 year nearly continuous journey. My wife is Romanian and I had a few military buddies stationed in various countries and we had some extended stays in a few locations. Was robbed a couple times, and nearly picked up pocketed numerous times by Roma Gypsies but my wife could usually cause them to leave us alone immediately by just speaking to them in Romanian letting them know she knew the drill. After nearly getting stabbed to death in Senegal after a cab driver started taking the wrong route for our destination. We had been there several days so luckily we were able to see what was happening and get out at the next stop sign. He became very angry even though we paid him more than the entire trip would have cost. We started walking and he drove along side us screaming and hollering at us. It was a very crowded pedestrian area so as we went along a larger and larger crowd was following us and eventually was surrounded by people screaming and people who decided to start collecting rocks. Some of the people had gardening equipment that had blades and shovels. I truly believed that if just one person decided to get physical it would be the end of us both. But a fairly nice large Mercedes Benz pulled onto the side walk and just pushed his way forward and told us to get in. Such a lucky break. After that in countries that were we felt may be a problem we would hire a guide/security guy who was usually just someone who was trying to get customers into an establishment to spend money. It was helpful in all sorts of ways, cheaper prices, in some countries where the bargaining process was so difficult and aggressive that it let the guide do it all because I just wouldn’t even consider buying the junk they are peddling if I had to deal with the drama. Anyways I rambled a lot. My point was that the fact that you may be currently surrounded by friendly amazing people and everyone seems super. Has no bearing whatsoever on what is happening one street over, or in the next town. I’ve not been to New Orleans in a long time but I had someone gift me Saints season tickets for a few years and at that time you ventured more than a block or two west of Bourbon street and it was not even remotely safe in my opinion. Cheers!

For americans who are seeing the "real" México for the first time I want to make some comments from other comments I saw here of racist and xenophobic people who say that they are kind because they want money or that it doesn't matter because the country is runned by the cartel, I know they are the minority of the comments about it but still feel the need to clear things. First about the friendly people, in México we have very deeply rooted the mentality of achieving humbleness, the majority of us don't see color, social status, if the sms received haves a green bubble, but we see people, we don't have neighborhoods by races, friend groups can have a blond guy, a tanned looking girl and a pale with black hair since we don't see colors, even families, a sibling can be extra pale with green eyes with a sibling who is tanned and haves black eyes and hair, actually is very common in families to have very different looking siblings, so in that part we don't discriminate because we are all the same and no one is more than anyone, even something funny, we tease people when they sound egocentric, we say sarcastically "damn you are so humble" because we really know is dumb to feel superior to someone else by having money, social status or anything. Also we have the death so present in our minds, not about the cartels but in general from life, we know that someday we will end up leaving this world so why bitter ourselves with small problems when we can just enjoy life, we know everyone haves their own problems so why be rude or annoying when we can just be friendly and joke around to make life more enjoyable, money isn't our main goal, our main goal is to be sure our friends and family are healthy and happy, we are very family oriented and grateful to our parents from everything they gave us so is normal to see a 40 year old visiting their parents each month or yearly at Christmas if they live far, life is so short so we better enjoy our family while we have them here with us instead of later regretting not sharing sweet and happy moments, but once some family member or friend pass away, we still never forget them, that's the point of "el día de los muertos", day of the death, from an outside view it can sound satanic but not at all, is a day to celebrate our beloved ones but instead of being a depressing day, is a day dedicated to remember our good memories with that person and to never forget them by doing so because a person dies when you forget them, because while you still remember them they will always be in your heart. Secondly the drug cartels running the country, yes they can corrupt, but not like people might think, they bribe police so they don't annoy them and bribe some politicians for immunity but not in a way where they are the government or they run their trucks thru airports, actually as a civilian they don't care for you, they are actually hidden in mountains or very discreet, they don't have helicopters flying around and that, they can be involved being the suppliers of gangs but that's everywhere in the world, the problem comes when another cartel wants to fight to control zones and sadly they can have civilian casualties but that's not the norm, so again, for a cartel you won't be a target, they won't care about a foreign who can make their country want to dissapear them when they already make stupid amount of money with the drug trade, but the country is basically like any other, it can have dangerous neighborhoods but avoiding them you will be okay, the people here reflects the soul of the typical Mexican so we are more friendly and happy ones than the bad ones, so is very sad and heartbreaking to see how in the north they think we are all criminals when the 99% of Mexicans are against the cartels and just want to have peace, so if in that small town he felt safe, Mexico city / Monterrey / Guadalajara or any other big city will feel way more safe, greetings to everyone and we will receive you with open arms in our country!!!! The dangerous thing will be that you won't be able to stop eating delicious tacos 😂

Another compliment I thinks it’s awesome how you guys can actually create two separate accounts of the situation, with different narrations and takes on the same circumstances. I say this because your editing, from a laymen’s perspective, it so clean that you really wouldn’t even know. Seamless in a way? Ya get it. Guys are awesome

Absolutely the best. My husband and I are retired truck drivers. We had the opportunity on some down time to go to Juarez. 2 weeks before it got bad. They found a couple at border decapitated. But I loved being there. I live in Tn. But originally from south Florida I actually felt home. Met some nice people. Played checkers with the ole timers. Have fun memories of our day. You have the blessing of speaking Spanish I wish I could have picked it up as you. I can only say the needed words, but you can communicate and you can feel the appreciation. I suppose it would be like that anywhere. Good one guys! Yes, watchman that would be a great haircut. Safe travels to your family. ❤❤❤

"They found a couple at border decapitated. But I loved being there" this is fkd on so many levels. I don't see how you can justify loving a place that does shit like this to tourists. Lots of heads roll in Mexico. people are murdered. Cartels are in control. You love corruption, apparently. i don't understand you and how others can think like you
