@@ohyesitsyouagain "Fake it till you make it" only applies to when you are walking into the audition room. If you aren't feeling confident in the lobby, "act" confident when you are walking into the audition room. So I would think that New Orleans is probably the place that would have more agents, casting directors and audition opportunities. But, productions shoot throughout the state. Contact the Louisiana Film Commission. They will have a list of agents and casting directors through out the state and also what films are casting locally. All film productions have local casting directors, so find out their names and send your picture and resume to the local casting directors and agents. Make sure you have a professional head shot and get a resume together. Write a cover letter to the casting director casting the project submitting yourself. You can do this without an agent. Research all the local casting directors and start contacting them that you are willing to be a local hire for projects. Hope this helps. Holly

I am going to film some new segments soon, so I will include that for sure. For now, always dress with a suggestion of the character, not a costume. So for instance if you are auditioning for a nurse, you would maybe wear a white shirt not a nurses uniform. If a lawyer maybe a jacket. If you are auditioning for a lawyer and you come in with torn jeans and a t-shirt, we won't take you seriously. Hope that helps.

I'm a really shy person. Maybe just maybe I could audition and not be so nervous and fake being confident like you said but actually making my way to the audition would be difficult. I have had no experience and I find it really hard getting involved in school with drama and school plays because of my shyness. I like the idea of auditioning for a movie because in a movie you retake scenes as many times as you need to get it right. I love the idea of acting, and I would love to be cast in a movie, but I have no idea how I will do it! I'm 13 and from the UK any tips?
@hollypowell87167 жыл бұрын
Hi Freya, I want you to think of something you do that you are really good at. A sport? piano? singing? cooking? Feel that confidence that you feel in the pit of your stomach. Now think about walking into that audition room. Hold on to that feeling of confidence, that is fake it till you make it. Since you are shy, start doing this on a daily basis in everyday situations. Maybe get involved with the drama department at school. There are many other skills needed to get a production off the ground. Backstage stuff like lighting, props, makeup, stage managing. Then once you get into that environment it will help you build a community of like minded people and you will be around other actors. You are young, so your best bet right now is jump in in your school!

There's really no reason to be nervous. It should be treated like an interview, because that's what it is. They're looking to make sure you're the right person to fill the role that you applied for, same as management at a company. The worst they will do is say no. If you don't get the part, it's not the end of the world. Keep your head high knowing that you did your best, and keep applying for other roles. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. The more you do audition, the more you'll get used to how it works and the more confident you will become. For those who have seen Captain America: The First Avenger, remember how nervous he was when he first read his lines to the troops in that play? And then a few minutes later when it was made obvious that it was a passage of time how confident he had become? The best thing you can do for yourself is keep doing it. If you're really that nervous, then do a roleplay audition with friends or family. That will help you increase in confidence.

Such great advice. This is why I think it’s important to go into the casting as prepared as possible, so you can walk into the room confidently and react truthfully. I’ve been using the Dialogmaster Pro rehearsal app to lock down my lines, then I don’t have to focus on them during my performance. I’ve rehearsed them so well that my focus is only on what the other characters are giving me to react to, whether it’s in the casting process or performing. It’s making the preparation process so much easier. It’s such a good feeling when you can walk into an audition confident, knowing you’re prepared 😊 Thanks for sharing this helpful advice, Holly. You are a gem ❤️

It's a hard road, but you are young. I suggest you find a class to get into in your area. An on camera class is best if you can find it. Get a good picture taken that looks like you and brings out your personality. Research photographers in your area, don't have a friend take it. Your picture needs to be a professional head shot. Get a resume together. If you don't have a lot on there, studying is a big deal to an agent. Contact your Film Commission to find a list of Agencies in your area. Or Google agencies in your area. There are ones that specialize in teens, so focus on those. Send your picture and resume with a cover letter telling the agent how passionate you are about being an actor, and let them know what you have been doing, like taking a class. Address the letter to a specific agent, not a generalized letter, so do your homework. Have fun! Holly

How can someone audition for the CW network without an agent?
@hollypowell87167 жыл бұрын
mehak lodhi Hi Melaka, send your picture and resume with a cover letter to the Head of Casting at the CW. Her name is Lori Openden. You can find the address for the CW on IMDB or by Googling it. In the cover letter tell her specifically which shows on the CW you would like to audition for. Also, send your picture and resume to the independent casting director on the specific show you are wanting to audition for. You can also find out the casting director for a specific show by going to IMDB and typing in the name of that show. Hope this helps, Holly

Thank you so much for this! I’ve always had a little spark in me that wanted to do acting, but now I feel like it is too late to start. I’m 16 and never fully had an acting experience other then working on costumes for my school plays. My friends think I should give it a try next year for our fall production, I’ll take this video and use it wisely. I have also been on the lookout for auditions around me just for fun, but maybe one day I’ll give it a go. Thank you!

ive been thinking of auditioning, i live in arizona & plan on going to Los Angeles California to audition for a movie but i don't know what id need for the audition, some say that you don't need an agency & others say you will, also something about headshots.
@hollypowell87167 жыл бұрын
trisha paytas Hi Trisha, you definitely need a headshot and resume for an audition. Get a picture taken of yourself by a professional photographer, make sure the picture looks like you, not a glam shot, but one that brings out your personality. Get a resume together of any experience you have had, theater, classes, etc. if you have no real experience your resume should state what your goals are, and also any special skills you have like singing, dancing, sports, play an instrument,etc. If you are going to LA for a specific audition find out the name of the casting director on the specific project. Go to IMDB and type in the name of the project and look for the casting directors name and address. You can submit your picture and resume to the cd without an agent. Make sure you write a cover letter stating exactly what project you would like to audition for. I would advise not to go to LA without securing an actual audition unless it is an open call. It's very hard to get into an audition unless you have an appointment. I hope this helps, Holly

I live in Minneapolis, I've always wanted to become an actor, but I do not have a resume or a headshot. How do I find an agent.
@hollypowell87167 жыл бұрын
You need to have a professional headshot taken and get together a resume. Do you have any acting experience? First step is to get into an acting class, agents won't consider someone who does not have those basic tools together. I would bet in Minneapolis there are several places to take acting classes, go online. Then google the Film Commission in your state and they should have a list of local agencies. First things first. Good luck!

I'm not an actor (yet), but a lot of this seems like common sense...at least to me. By the way, "fake it til you make it" really doesn't work in the end. People will catch on to the fakery. You need to have that natural confidence going in. If you don't and you fake it, you might win the battle, but definitely not the war.
