City island is a hidden treasure in NYC.

I was born and raised in the Bronx... 4 generations of my family have been coming to City Island...my Grandfather and Uncles worked at the schoolhouse...my sister went to school for a short time there...we would go out to C.I for a visit or seafood...I still live in the Bronx and visit C.I whenever I can.

I was raised in the Bronx and didn't visit City Island until I moved to Charlotte, North Carolina.

I went fishing from Ciry Island many times in the late 1950's early 1960' s on the Apache fishing boat Caught lots of flounder and porgy I drove my mom down to the end of City Island in the early 1970's to have a snack and enjoy the views many times

Not from the Bronx ( Bklyn) , but I do not whave relatives & would go there to visit them. Never would expect to see an area like this in the Bronx ( maybe in Rockaway Beach or Coney Island!! ) The Bronx is truly a borough full of unique surprises!!

I visited my cousins in The Bronx recently and we went to City Island. It was very nice. I love my cousins!

Finally, Sammy's Shrimp Box, the best seafood restaurant I've ever eaten. Used to go there all the time. It's been years since I've been in NY. I didn't realize that Sammy's was that far down on the Island. Try it, you'll love it.

Very interesting neighborhood, has a small town New England feel . Those sea food restaurants have to be wonderful !

Of course this was years ago, but when I used to go to City Island before I could drive I took the BX12 bus, immortalized in "A Bronx Tale" to City Island. WHERE do all these other numbered lines terminate after City Island?
