The narrator, Laura Klivens, is so awesome. Her tone, inflection and pronunciation are perfect. And, that voice of hers, wow. Wouldn’t you love to have her read you a story when you were a kid! I wonder if she does audiobooks. Heck, I’d buy it regardless of subject matter just to listen to her. The video itself was great - photography and info.

I was overjoyed to see a new video from Deep Look. I started the video and it wasn't the same lady who narrates Deep Look. I was like "Whooa...hold on. Am I in another channel ?" It took awhile to adjust to the new narrator. I do miss the previous lady, her voice and so calming and sweet. But the new lady is good too. Her tone and voice makes it very interesting.

I remember reading that some species of walking sticks lay eggs that trick ants into taking them into their nest. Part of the egg is a edible treat for the ants, then the ants deposit the egg in their trash chamber. When the egg hatches, the walking sticks kinda look like a ant with there rear end tightly rolled up. The baby walking stick then leaves the nest and slowly unravels the tail end, mimicking a scorpion for a time before transforming into the stick. I was really hoping you would have touched on that a little bit. One of my favorite insects.

My theory is that the moms have babies all on the green/brown spectrum so that no matter the environment, at least SOME of them will be optimally camouflaged and survive. Since they travel quite a bit, what's optimal where they were born might not be optimal where their babies end up being born.

It can't, according to evoluton the origins of this mimicry is completely independant of the environment, it's just a happy coincidence that they turned out looking exactly like sticks and that the behavioral adaptions which make them act like sticks are a happy coincidence too. It just happens that the ones that happened to end up looking this way by complete random chance survived. This is what people don't realize, natural selection is what happens AFTER the original genesis of the biology iteslf, hence evolution ascribes such specific adaptions, to coincidence.
