This brings back beautiful memories. I drove my mom and my favorite auntie to Santa Fe and to the chapel in Chimayo. When we were in Loretto we were able to stand right by the staircase and get a good look at it. I took lots of photos of under the stairs with my brand new digital camera. Took closeups of the banisters and the sides of the steps. There are no nails or screws.😮 Amazing! Go there and to Chimayo with its miraculous sand. Beautiful old mission.

It is beautiful. We haven’t been to chapel in Chimayo we’re going to add it to our must see list.

@@estupinantravels I forgot to mention that we went all the way to Taos to the Indian dwellings. There is a church there, but it was closed when we got there. Someday, I hope to see that church in Taos again and ho to Mass there.

Wouldn't it be a challenge for some gifted carpenter to try..

@@T1971-w4c what’s the challenge, wet and bend stringers, 12 footer double stringers Joined at the 6’ on center, that’s how i would get the structures strength, then traditional risers and treads, dowel balusters, it can be built with sap glue and no nails. Extremely time consuming and insane patients.

Unfortunately, and no one should give the approval or bad karma should be your curse! The staircase would need to be dismantled to understand its secret. I believe the secret is behind the underbelly of the stairs incasement. Im not happy rails were added destroying its purpose.
