This breaks my heart so much. I lived behind there when it was being built. I grew up in that mall. I smoked my first smoke in the parking lot there. So many memories if that place being packed constantly. Hanging out there as a teenager, seeing movies and hanging out with friends. It's a relic frozen in apocalyptic time. I lived behind this mall for 5 years in my young adulthood and spent a good portion of my teenage years here because it was quiet, dry, and had a very relaxed attitude. The vendors were always really kind to me. After I had my son I would basically spend his first winter strapping him to me and taking him on walks while he napped. He learned to crawl and walk here. As it sank further into deterioration (The roof had pretty serious issues and there were many leaky spots throughout the building. I assume this played a part in the eventual shutdown of the entire mall after a snowstorm caused further damage) you could walk the perimeter of the building and notice how nature was reclaiming it. Bats made a nest on the roof at one point, a small section of grass in the parking lot had native orchids growing, trees in the parking lot were surrounded by saplings, and there was a pretty large array of mushrooms that sprang up from time to time. I had been going to this mall since I was 10 and for the fifteen years before it closed it never reached its former glory, but it definitely felt like a community center. I'll always have fond memories of this place. I spent 15 years hearing about what a dump my town is, but now wealthier people are moving here in droves and it's hard to buy a home, rental prices are skyrocketing, historical buildings are torn down or just burn down and the homeless population needs support they're not getting. It's hard to think about being priced out of a place very few seemed to give a shit about until recently.

There used to be a Radio Shack inside the mall, but it closed ten years ago. This mall used to have a K-Mart and a JC Penney's ther, but they also pulled out about the same time. What a dump this mall is.

Uhm, what? The Extreme Fun Center is where JC Penny's use to be. Kmart was out of there way before JCPenny. They not only moved out, but the mall owners tore down that part of the mall about 20yrs ago.

To be fair to the mall Aberdeen is also a decrepit place where no fun is to be had.

i would come buy stuff but its 2021 and 2020 when i lived in hoquiam and i believe its closed. which is sad because then its just walmart and an occasional oddity store or thrift store.

Can someone tell me what stores used to be in this mall?
@Crunk5.05 ай бұрын
Many things, an arcade the extreme fun center, sears, a music store and lesson place, and a bunch of locally owned shops with comic books and crafts. Real sad it's gone down. The arcade was the last to stay open until it closes on the 18th of August. I worked there and was able to go into the abandoned mall part and it's been completely torn apart by the homeless that would break in.

@YungExpo1400 i ran the go karts down there for about a year or 2 before closure. Sad to see one of the very few fun things to do in that town get closed

well, very weird that being from 2016, looks like 2020s ongoing apocalypse, i remember your kind of humor was present before 2020, now long gone, i dont laugh anymore since that year, i guess it wasnt like that in kurts days,he changed my life forever, i guess he didnt deserve to live this current terrible apocalypse which i can barely survive. aberdeen is my biggest dream , sadness and frustration, hope i can go before i die , thanks

It's a very melancholy town. I grew up there and understood why kurt wanted to die.

Like every mall in America. I'm from battle Creek Michigan and the mall there is almost exactly like this. It's about to be part of old America.

I would like to point out every mall have there humble beginnings to their peaks and their decline and unfortunately their end I would say this mall was built in the late 1970’s to about early 1980’s by looking at how the mall looks and I would say it probably peaked or it’s heyday during 1998 to at least 2008 and after that it started to go down hill from there

Really you’re a really messed up. The mall industry is closing all over Washington state. For you just to walk in and assume that everything should be busy it’s just mind-boggling...

“Aberdeen mall” lol That’s south shore xD Decrepit was inaccurate at the time of this video. Now on the other hand :C At least you could still get in there. THATS TAQUERIA LOS GAILLOS / SAN JOSE SHOW SOME RESPECT! 🤤🤤🤤 Fun center is still going strong though! 6 years later 💪 Actively went out of the way to NOT show tectonic comics- probably because it was bustling and didn’t fit the narrators “this place sucks” motives. Doesn’t even know the name of all that glitters obvi not a local - has “no desire to go in there” -cannot be trusted to give accurate tours😂 only troll tours🤣 Doesn’t even know if it’s the only theater in town and calls it a small one LOL city boy you busted- that theater is Huge compared to others in the county! Thanks for visiting- byyyyeeeeee
