El Centro Historico , my fav spots whenever I visit Lima. I always rent an Airbnb by Plaza San Martin where all the actions are lol. I can walk for hours exploring the old city the beautiful architectures. Btw artisanal and souvenir are much cheaper in El Centro thank in Miraflores and Cusco. There's lots of store by Santo Domingo Church. Will be there next week , always by Plaza San Martin Jiron de la Union , after 4 years. Can't wait 😀 . I can already see some changes. Lots of buildings have been rejuvenated and lots of the street have been turned into pedestrian streets. About Rimac , I was told, during my first visit, that once you cross the bridge don't venture more one block off the bridge. Nice video and very informative. Btw , I found my Metropolitano card. Cheers😂

That's great! I hope you have a good time here in Lima again! A couple of weeks ago I ran through Rimac, all the way to Independencia (MegaPlaza), and then to San Juan de Lurigancho. It was a really interesting run! It was nice seeing a more normal side of Peru and how people live in the suburbs. A very very different experience to the city centre. I saw a whole menu (starter+main combo) for only 7 soles! The bicycle paths and pedestrian streets are getting so much better pretty much everywhere! I'm glad you liked the video and !!huzzah!! for finding the Metropolitano card! haha! 😂

@@s34nTravels Already in Lima she nice Thursday. Walk almost all the same area you did in your video. Have already gained at least 3 kilos in 3 days with all the ceviche, picarones , papas rellenas and all the good foods and I walked 5 to 10 Kms everyday. Will try mercado no. 2 in Surquillo soon. There’s some good foods there too. Heading north to Huacho and Barranca next week. Lots of things have changed in Centro Historico during the past 3.5 years . Very sad to see that of businesses have closed down for good. Btw my Metropolitan card is still good was able to replenish 😀 Cheers

So did you get the blessing in that church?😅, anyways, I love the older vintage side of Lima, sometimes long ago Lima City used to be called the City of garden or the city of the kings, this days that name has been changed to (Lima the noisy city, Lima the gray city 😂😂😂) hope in a future things will change, for God's sake 👍cheers 🙂

*There were abuse in all the whole continent, from Canada to Chile but I have to recognize the Spanish Empire was more "benevolent" than the English one. Here in Peru, The Monarchy built schools and universities for the natives. It was permitted the Mixed/inter-racial marriages, obviously with an "financial interest" as motivation. Because the Inca Elites kept being respected. TUPAC AMARU II for example received and exclusive education due to family. He was polyglot, speaking Quechua, Spanish and Latin.There was more Civil wars between Europeans(Spanish) than a confrontation with the natives directly but it existed also Native revolts. In Canada and USA the majority of natives was extermInated. That's why the majority of the "folklore" of north america culture is reduced. Barely the Apaches or Pocahontas is well-known stories but talking about native cuisine or native music or the different languages spoken in each region, is few known by the world in general.Even its temples, statues and monuments kept intact in their original places, few were destroyed and many were used as directional to teach the Catholicism. Compared to the diversity of Mexican Culture or the Peruvian one, or the Argentinian for example. But I'm NOT justifying the abuse and explotation there were in the whole continent by Europe. That's why Pizarro is a character that causes controversy*
@s34nTravels Жыл бұрын
Do you mean malevolent and not benevolent? RE: "That's why Pizarro is a character that causes controversy" I'm a little lost in the point you are making. You said that: "Spanish Empire was more "benevolent" than the English one", but then you referenced America and the Apache. That's not English. So I'm super confused lol The biggest killer of natives (of the americas) is by the transfer of European diseases, so it was indirect, and by sheer numbers, it's little to do with being malevolent

Yeah!, I forgot to mention about how people in the popular supermarket in the meats area they don't use a gloves, not good at all, they should be, but unfortunately the Authorities are corrupted (they got illegal money under the table), the people who works with any kind of meat, should be use a gloves always to avoid any bacteria, This matters is the same in most countries in Latin America the same things you can see in Asia in Africa or meddle east Countries. Mostly in barrios places (lower class neighborhoods), because of this matters in poor countries or places the people has a problem with the Tuberculosis, stomach poison or any others issues with bad bacteria. So be careful where you eat or you can get a free ticket to the hospital 😂😂😂 being poor doesn't mean you have to be a dirty Person.

That statue is the founder of Lima City is (the Spanish Conquer Francisco Pizarro), the first place where the statue used to be, was very close to the Goberment Palace (in plaza mayor or plaza de Armas), because the political issues or disagreement of the citizens (anger against him and Spanish invasion), the statue has been removed to the new place that nobody care or want to see him in the center of Lima 😂😂😂 or in a such a privilege place Francisco Pizarro can't stay there anymore, I think he doesn't deserves it, after all he was a killer of the Incas, but that issues happen in the past period and is time to cross that bridge and live the present days 😉, and talked about the food I miss so much the food and the great variety of the fresh fruits. Take care 👍

--------- It's important to not segment an arbitrary slot in time, but judge the whole timescale. Most people forget that the natives plundered, killed, raped, executed those natives before them, and before them. How do you think the Incans treated the Uros for example?
