Andrew, thank you for the wonderful walk..and the incredible views of the sea, along with different groups of tourists (ok, cows). My region of Italy just changed from Yellow to Orange. Do you know if the farmer abandoned the farm because it was too difficult to make a living on the island? While everyone is in either semi or full lockdown (2nd Edition!), would you do a series on the communities in the Outer Hebrides, and how the local communities earn their living? It's beautiful, but seems isolating. The view from the 3rd trig point is amazing. Too many beautiful points to reference each of them. So, a giant "thank you" for sharing such beauty! Do the stores / pubs sell cask ale? Pace of the video was very good.
@andrewjditton4 жыл бұрын
Thanks David. The farm was abandoned as the land has been purchased for redevelopment (contentious subject.) I love the idea of doing videos based on the people, but currently I just don't have the contacts. Would love to do it. Maybe when all this current situation has blown over, let's hope.

Thank you so much Andrew for taking us on your walks with Dougal in your island paradise! I hope there will be many more like this exploring North Uist, plants, birds, all life there! When I see you on that land, my thoughts turn to the generations of Gaels who lived and loved in that precious place. Their spirit is still there, as well as their descendants who call it home now. Bringing their lives into your walks and reflections could help enrich our understanding of the Hebrides, and North Uist. The islands and their people are woven together and possibly you could find a way to include some of their island stories, past and present, that would be such a gift! Thank you as always from Texas! Shannon 🌎💗
@andrewjditton4 жыл бұрын
I’d love to do more of that Shannon, but it’s been challenging with the Pandemic to meet and get to know local people and learn their stories - something I yearn to do. I’m sure it will all come. Thanks for watching.

A great idea bringing the Stunning Western Isles to us all, we have been watching on TV thought l aught to catch up with you, to tell how much we have enjoyed your videos from lockdown one to lockdown two for us, when it all kicked off those two going home ones after the daily awfull nighly news broadcasts helped with a reassure of a little normality, then the live broadcast s where you manfully fought the elements remaining true to your ideals showing us how it is, must have been through glenched teeth you refrained from making polical comments at the time, and l won't here ;-) the van conversion was an eye opener to the detail and quality of work goes into a superior van conversion. We (that's definitely not the royal we) were happy Glinys found a good home . The trig videos were outstanding , who needs the Carribean with North Uist beaches like that with out the heat too , as to content and time, entirely what you find comfortable for you as filming is only part of the story editing and uploading probably longer than the actual walks. Thanks again for sharing your time and showing us all round your island home
@andrewjditton4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for such a lovely comment. Yes, the editing takes WAY longer than the walks! I’m hoping to get broadband to the house by Christmas/New Year so will be able to do a few more Live broadcasts then. Thanks for your support - it’s truly appreciated.

That was really nice Andrew. It made me think how amazing the Ordnance Survey mapping system is. I learnt all about how to read and use the OS maps in Geography lessons at school, and in sports lessons we did some orienteering, thus learning how to set a course with a compass. I guess I just took the maps for granted. It wasn't until I moved to Spain that I realised not all countries are so well served. And my first trip in Morocco was even worse. We had maps, but they had no grid lines, so very limited with regards to taking bearings. We had a Sat Nav that would give us our location bearings, but we could not relate it to the map, because of no grid lines. Well done UK and Ordnance Survey!
