'Riding Washington DC Metro from DuPont Circle to Metro Center' was recorded on November 5, 2020 around 6:20 p.m. DC Metro is a rapid transit system that connects different sections of the city. It is one of the cleanest train stations I have seen in the US. Most of the Washington DC Metro stations are nicely designed with large open space. In addition, DC metro trains tend to have less delays compared to those in NYC.

I lived in DC for 3 month 3 years ago and I used metro to commute. I still miss the announcement sound, fare machine, advertisements on the wall. I miss everything of America. People were great and kind. They were so nice. It's hard to live in America without money, but I still admire the country. America itself gives me the feeling of fantasy and nostalgia. I still miss the Kabob place I used to go, "Caspian Kabob". It is in German town, Maryland. Now I am in the other country, I always think about the places I've been to. I will visit everywhere I've visited someday. Hope I can live there again in my life.

Because I use this system daily, I guess I notice its problems more. Because I rely on it to get to work, I notice its delays and hiccups (all too common), its nearly non-functional PA systems, its broken fare gates & machines, its almost complete lack of supervision, its terrible integration with regional bus services (including its own Metro buses), etc.. They have done a lot to improve performance over the last 5 years after the system went into a freefall of failure (resulting in fires, derailments, crashes, and a few fatalities). There was a point where I was taking an extra 30 minutes to commute to work because I could do 90% of it by bus. Every minute on the train felt like I was taking my life in my hands. It's much better now. As a system, it has a long way to go to be even a ghost of many of the European metro systems I've been on, but compared to a lot in the States, it's not so bad. And hey, 40+ years later, it's almost ready to be able to take you from the city to the airport...which should have been the first thing it did...

DuPont Circle was my first exposure to DC's Metro back in 1979. We were staying in a hotel near where the National Zoo Station is now (was just a black hole in the ground then) and had to take a bus to it. Getting to the Zoo: unless you like walking up a long hill (a lot of that in the Zoo) do NOT use the Zoo (Woodley Park) station. Get off at Cleveland Park and walk south to the entrance. It is only slightly farther (on a flat surface) than walking up the hill. You can go to either station when leaving.

Cool video. They just need to. Make it where they chrage based on zones. And charge a flat rate no matter the time of day. Like NYC. And make it run 24/7/365 they have the ridership for it. And its the second busiest subway system behind NYC in America. And the 5th busiest in the continent of North America. They can make it run 24 hours and more people would take it. And the could even extend it more. It would ease the traffic problems by a whole lot.

Many years ago I lived in Gaithersburg, MD, and took the train to the city for work every day. I remember one Friday, I caught the next-to-last train from Farragut North, heading home to the Rockville station after being at the bars. I was fckng hammered, literally puking drunk. I felt the wave of nausea hit me and managed to get out in time to heave chunks into a garbage can at the Friendship Heights station, and then caught the last scheduled train for home. Still completely fucked up, the train is swaying and the orange carpet is kind of making me hallucinate, I ended up heaving a second bucketful into the corner of the train- couldn’t get off cos then no way home. Dear train custodian, I owe you so much 🤮👎😂

The WMATA has 1 big problem and that is, there is no express service because it is a 2 track system. Unlike other systems such as the MTA 3-4 tracks per line, there are only 2 tracks at the wmata so trains can only go at one speed and will need to stop at every station. I've always thought they should have built at least three tracks so that even if you aren't doing express service (which the WMATA definitely needs) if and when you are doing extended servicing on the tracks it wouldn't slow down service because of single tracking. I thought they would have learnt this lesson when they were building the new silver line but they don't seem to have because even this new silver line doesn't have the necessary 3 tracks as they opted to build only 2 tracks.
