Oh my goodness Dave I work in the office at St Andrew's Church. Sorry I missed you I would have unlocked the church tower and showed you where Gulliver's men hoisted up the contraband. You can still see the grooves of the ropes in the Tower. (They stored it in the Tower) Behind the church (North Churchyard) is the grave of Robert Trotman who was a smuggler who was shot in Poole. Thank you for putting this delightful video together. Was lovely to see Kinson and surrounding areas.

Thanks Dave , another very interesting and well presented walk. I remember Jim Kellaway was the landlord of the White Hart pub in 70's . Really enjoyed the tour of St. Andrews as I was christened in the church in the early 1950's. Cheers Steve

My back yard! I live right next to the lakes there at Longham. The river has totally burst its banks here now and its chaos but its a nice place in summer. Hope you visit again and I bump into you and Logan!

What a lovely area to live in. Yes, I can just imagine that the Stour is very much in "full flow" at the moment ...... it was looking a lot calmer that day for sure!
@zzzzz7777110 ай бұрын
@DaveFord Oh yes, it certainly is in full flow, full flow across half of Longham , haha.

Hi Dave , lovely walk , thanks . This is my area. When you walk across the Kinson nature reserve, you were actually on top of an old tip which was very busy in the early 70s, anything and everything went in there ! Also there are many stories and tales about a series of tunnels under , or leading from the church, all to do with smuggling!
@DaveFord10 ай бұрын
Thanks for the background information - I did wonder a bit about the history of that nature reserve!

Happy New Year Dave and Logan. Thankyou for this walk, it's brought back memories of childhood summer days with a net and jam jar looking for tiddlers in the river at Longham! We've walked around the lakes many times with our 2 lukis. The birdlife is always plentiful. The dear old White Hart pub, many good nights spent in there in my youth. It was the watering hole for the Oakmedians rugby boys in late 60s on.... we girls were supporters and tea makers (of course!). The Dudsbury camp also a good memory, I camped there with the Girl Guides, way back when Noah was a boy 😂. Keep walking, boys. We watch one or two videos every night..... beats everything else hands down😊

Thanks for a great video. Not only did I live in Kinson not far from St Andrews Church in Millhans Rd I also lived at Dudsbury Guide Camp in the late 60's before it became a golf course. Great memories thank you.

Another video full of interest and beauty. I was a bit astounded right at the start when you mentioned breakfasts and I thought you were not going to partake of one! That area by the weir was so pretty with the sunlight glinting down. Logan was looking very expectant at the end for a taste of those characterful crisps!! Thank you for sharing your walk with us.

Thanks Jean. It was certainly worth delaying the start of the walk in order to sample the breakfast - purely for research purposes of course!

Thank's again for another great video Dave, it's hard to believe most of that area you filmed was a huge rubbish dump back in the seventies I'm sure that most of Bournemouths seagulls were residents there at one time or another.

Lovely video Dave, have lived in the area all my life and didn’t know there was anywhere interesting to walk! St Andrews church reminds me of my Boys Brigade days, once a month we’d parade there from Kinson. Keep up the great walks!

Thank you Andy. Yes, I was surprised to see how much "countryside" there is to explore around there as, on a map, it initially looks so urban.

I bet you tried that tyre swing Dave after the camera was turned off. Though, straight after that breakfast, probably not a wise thing to do. I thought you may have been a recipient in the New Year's Honours for all the selfless research you do on our behalf, and never a word of complaint! Keep it up.
@DaveFord10 ай бұрын
Thank you. I undertook a quick "Health & Safety Assessment" and decided that , for the welfare of the tree, it might not be a good idea to test out the tyre swing!

Hi Dave It appears the White Hart has permanently closed. I even tried phoning the pub but the number was dead. Sign if the times sadly😢
