The clarity of your explanations, Mark, accompanying the visuals was so helpful. You make a great teacher! Thankyou for this video.

Here in the UK L-shaped corners are always popular, but there is a trend for corner-shaped larder units where possible; they take up more room but give excellent storage. Some customers like open shelves in a corner, but if it is a modern handleless kitchen, no wall corners look great, simple and sleek like you, Mark.

I had no idea you could do free-standing filler pieces! Thanks Mark

I'm about to make a new kitchen that will be full of corners. I did find one of Marks ideas very useful. I will probably have a built-in oven at 45 degrees in a corner, all the way into the corner, with benches on both sides for putting the oven out of harms way. It will also be much easier to safely handle hot dishes. In a corner with a full height cabinet, I'll probably have a rack on wheels that comes out, so that I can have a hidden long time storage of Christmas stuff and things used once or twice per year. It would also be possible to just put open shelves in the corner, put lights in and have herbs in pots nearby.

Great video! I was going to ask about this in the live chat, but now i don't have to. Lol It's really helpful to see all of the options in 3D design. Thanks Mark!

Hey Mark: I'm learning a lot watching your videos. I've just bought a condo which has a galley style kitchen with no windows (ie, no natural light). I've already demo-d as much wall as can be taken down (about half of one of the galley walls) which partially opens the space up to the living and dining areas. So - yay! - now I get some natural light. Do you have any videos that discuss how to re-work a galley style kitchen, esp when condo design puts pre-imposed limits as to what can be done? I can't completely gut the entire kitchen, but I can "shift" and expand some of it (cabinets, counter flow, storage) into the dining area. Also, do you have any videos showing your favorite different color palettes where the cabinets are white?

Hey Dave. Thanks so much for watching. I'm glad my content is helpful. I don't have any specific videos on the topics you mentioned. I will say, for the galley kitchen, get as many layout options as you can. Even ones that don't make immediate sense. This will help you discover ideas that you may not have thought about. Sometimes the limitations are set, as in there is only so much you are allowed to do, so it's important to push the envelope of creativity to discover the best layout for the space. Not much help unfortunately lol.

I already have a dead space corner on my upper cabinet. Is there some type of drop down drawer I could install?

I’ve never seen one for a corner, only a regular wall cabinet. If the corner cabinet is a standard angled corner, a lazy Susan works really well.

Mark, awesome ideas. I am having a hard time finding the freestanding filler piece you mention to use. Can you post a link to it?? Thx.

They don't make it easy to find for some reason. check product #004.925.83 This would be one of the filler options, but you could also use a deco strip and cut it to the proper size. Hope that helps.

Great idea! Now I have the idea of a blocked off the corner with fillers. Then have a pantry between the corner and a wall oven. What do you think?
@MTKDofficial Жыл бұрын
Sounds like it might work. Just be careful not to create a dark corner space because of the deep tall unit.

@@MTKDofficial I want a shallow cabinet. So that hopefully will work out. I really appreciate you and all the help you give. I don't make it to the live but I do watch all your videos.🙂

Thanks so much. I don't think it can be exported, though I've never tried.

Hi! I could have sworn that I saw (but now I can't find them) a cabinet that works like a dumbwaiter (or elevator or lift). I believe the case was for use by mobility-impaired people. It lowers the shelves straight down, instead of the pull-down style that lowers them and pulls them toward you. The downside is that you have to keep countertop underneath clear. It seems to me that if you want to use that first type of corner cabinet, having the shelves or turntable descend straight down so that you can get at the contents would be ideal (if you are tidy enough to keep your countertop clear below). Have you seen cabinets that do this? Can you tell me what they are called?

Hi Mark! I've looked all over Ikea's website for the blind corner upper cab, using the model numbers in your video, and nothing came up. To your knowledge, have they been discontinued?

They very well could be. I'll have to have a look myself.
