Absolutely brilliant video! Wall-E is by far my favourite animated film, and in my top 5 overall. Your analysis is spot-on, well-informed, well written, and entertainingly presented. I’m going to look into your other content as soon as I’m done here 🥰 My only quibble is how little credit you gave Ben Burtt for his contribution in Wall-E’s audience appeal. There’s a fascinating featurette on one of the DVD versions about the sound design of the film and how it formed a framework on which the rest was built. As animated movies don’t have the luxury of organic sound, every single sound heard is intentional and considered. And since it’s set in the future, and in space, there wasn’t as much of a need to replicate natural sounds like with foley work. Burtt was careful to limit the range of sounds Wall-E could produce to those that could plausibly be accounted for by his various components. Yet he’s still immediately intelligible and sympathetic (and that’s all without mentioning his ability to record and playback!) It’s a beautiful, unparalleled piece of storytelling, and you’ve done an excellent job analysing it. Very well done, thank you! (And you’re 1000% correct about the closing credits sequence 🥰)

Interesting that you should mention sound design. I have been sitting on that for a while since it's so overlooked... stay tuned, it might be a while before I get to it but I am thinking about it and that is one of the reasons I didn't tackle it here. Step on me, mommy. The last time I watch this movie I was thinking something pretty similar. EVE is a badass hottie as far as robots are concerned. So much so that I put in my Tinder bio "I'm just a WALL*E looking for his EVE." Which did actually lead to me matching with a woman who also had anger issues and set things on fire...
