Wall Mounted Faucet Repair is PAINFUL!

Faucet Wall Mounted Leaky Drip Repair.
I have wall mounted faucet and handle installation, and I have a drip. It was a constant and steady drip too. This video shows the steps that I needed to go through to fix the drip. It was painful, but also a learning experience. I hope you enjoy!

How is it any different than when tub or shower is dripping? I don't get the angst over this.

There is going to be a lot of similarities. If you have individual hot and cold handles in the shower, I think it should be very close, but every faucet will have its own differences. I have also have a video replacing the stem on shower faucet with a single handle.

By now you must know you didn't need to remove the drywall in order to repair or replace the stems.

Hey Harlan. You're absolutely correct, it is not required for this job. Lesson learned on my part. I wasn't familiar with wall mounted faucets, and I couldn't find a good tutorial on KZbin. At least now I can have a video on repairing drywall next!

Even from a.logical perspective, there is no way a wall mounted faucet would require a wall being hacked open to repair.

thank you for your video. I would love to have the confidence you have to change my taps over. I have to change my bath taps and spout mounted onto the wall tiles. Isn't there a tool for reaching into the wall space to unscrew/screw those fittings without tearing out your wall?

Thank you for reaching out. You 'might' be able to get access with a long deep socket wrench (3:21 of video). It depends how big of an opening you have in the wall. It is an each check 1) Turn off water valve (always do this first! :) 2) Remove the handles and escutcheon as shown in the video 3) See if there is enough room to slide a deep socket wrench through the opening If there is enough room for that the fit, you might not need to touch the drywall at all, and it could be a really easy fix! Let me know what you find out.

Can’t you just replace the O-ring in the cartridge? Or do you need to replace the whole cartridge/stem

Great question...I couldn't tell where the step had an issue, so I opted to replace it. Did you have any luck?

i can tell you're a homeowner and not a plumber... you cut all that drywall for nothing.

That's correct. I highlighted that in the video. I did more work than I needed, but it was a learning experience for me. I've not replaced a wall mounted faucet valve before.

Is this for your own home? If not, you shouldn't open walls unless necessary. This job could have been done without any walls opened up.
