Missed a few tips here. Turn off the water first. Open the tap valve as it makes it easier to remove spindle. When you tap a thread as in for the new seat always go 1/2 turn forward and 1/4 turn back. This will clear the debris and make it easier to tap the thread. You also need a slow revving drill such as a cordless drill to reseat as too high a speed would cut too much out.

Hi!! If it was damaged (the seat) by a plumber how do you then fix it? I simply told my plumber my taps make squeaky noises after a while they're not doing it yet but after about a year they will start getting squeaky when you turn them on and he marked around with it and now I've got a worse issue. The tap was not dripping at all but now it is continuously dripping. I have found out I need to get one plumber in they need to pull all the tiles off the wall and then I need a builder to come in after that a lot of hassle for me as a tenant over a dripping tap. Is there a simple fix or a way around this? I do have handyman in the family and I would love each of you fixed easily and quickly without all of this drama that is ahead of me

@billshowto Hey Bill I reseated my tap seats for the shower in my bathroom with the reseating tool. One of them (cold tap) had noticeable damage/crack (about a quarter of a millimetre). I eventually stopped because I was hesitant to shave any more copper off. I flushed everything and reattached everything. When I turned on the shower, 3 noticeable changes: - The shower head pressure was much weaker (I changed to another shower head and the pressure was still low). - And when turning the cold tap slightly after the hot water, it would get cold quickly. - Leak has significantly stopped. Are there any explanations and fixes for this? Logically, I thought I did everything right. I'm feeling defeated at the moment. 😭

Hey Bill, if after reseating, new washers, valves etc and there's still a slow slight drip is that when you replace the seat itself with the tool shown in this clip? I think the answer is yes but wanted to ask before going ahead 🤣 After that next step is calling a plumber cos I only did new new bits and bobs listed above only 12 months prior 😢
