Wall ties; guaranteed waste of money!

Unsupervised rampant competition for cavity wall tie work in the 90's and up to today has churned out work this bad. Wall ties in solid wall! Wall ties in the wrong places, poorly installed and old rusting fishtail ties left untreated. Guaranteed work which was a waste of money - the installers were 'specialists' who have now, inevitably gone bust. With no GPI (Guarantee Protection Insurance), this client has to pay for more repairs. A Property Care Association or Wall Tie Installers federation member would not have turned out work of such terrible quality and the guarantee would have been valid if they had.
Despite some manufacturers now selling remedial wall ties to general builders and even into the do-it-yourself market, the work is critical and should really be left to properly trained and experienced contractors.
