It was sure nice to see the horse hauling those logs. Just love it. You can certainly sharpen that saw. It cuts like butter. My father has to have his saw like that. That,s his saying got to cut like butter. It,s our Newfie saying. Yes your wonderful lady done a good job film this and trying to keep up with the horse. Take care to you and your familyn.

I’ve come to watch every one of your videos. At first I was a bit skeptical but you guys have my interest. I do not know horses but we have a lot of Amish in Northern NY state. When I buy lumber I buy it from Joseph & Daniel at Hemlock Lumber. That’s as close as I get to horses. I’ve got a Kubota L3560 for moving logs in my 40 acre woods. Mostly hardwoods, not a single Oak tree Alas. Keep ‘em coming Wallace’s. Stay safe.

Britt you were a great camera person ........ i agree those tongs you were using looked like a lot of work ......... when i watch you pulling with your Boys i really miss the days of watching Grandpa and then later my uncle using horses to work the land ......... removing the dead trees and fertilizing the soil at the same time instead of killing an entire forest and polluting the land in the process making it hard for trees to grow in the future .......... keep up the great work for future generations

Hi both,I recall seeing your son on his horse at the time when you introduced the belgian horses to us and now you tell us that you have five horses so what is the info on the other two.I remember when I was a youngster (80 years ago ) when most jobs on the farms depended on the horse for most jobs and i found it a mystery how the horse could be controlled by a flick of the reins and a quiet word and here we are with the evidence how you manage to do this.Thank you.

do you peel the bark off those poplar logs? around where i live the bark is more valuable than the lumber. it makes beutiful siding for mountain homes =, especially when stone is also used.
@OhioBuckeye2 күн бұрын
Tyler, where’d you get the logging grabs? I have an antique set with built in swivels, but I’m missing that hammer. I had it at one time but it has disappeared. They belonged originally to a relative of mine who had Belgians. We just used them for dragging firewood. They worked well.

Question? When the tree hits the ground does it immediately become a log or does it have to be sawed into pieces before they become logs? How much money is a 12 foot long poplar log worth? How much money is that same log worth after you LT-40 it into lumber? When are you'll getting the brand new sawmill?
