What about getting some 55 gallon plastic barrels, cut in half long ways and mount on a homemade pallet, making long enough or 2 side by side to catch the sawdust? Use the forks of the tractor pick up whole thing and dump! Would help eliminate shoveling and much quicker?

Tyler, I feel ya about the sensitivity to certain woods. Like me, many people are allergic to firs, pines, spruces... the trees we know as Christmas trees. This makes Christmas season a living hell because of the ubiquity of those trees, wreaths, etc. Here's a tip: if you think your sensitivity is an allergy or hay fever, try using fluticasone (Flonase) nasal spray. Works for me like a charm. You can get it OTC at Costco or other pharmacies.

Have you ever considered a saw dust removal system? This could be a simple belt conveyor running parallel with the mill, then discharging into a pneumatic system which could blow it a considerable distance.

In my opinion the debarker should make contact on the log first before the saw band makes contact to cut, and also in my opinion there should be a debarker on the opposite side of the sawmill. But as my momma would say “ Each to there own “

Love you guys. David from Northwest Arkansas. I like your new saw and setup. My only advice is for operator to sit on chair or bar stool . Reason is people in banks, fast food, and cashiers at big box stores got shakey legs. Problem is standing for long time without moving weaklings the venous valves in our legs. These valves are like check valves in a water well. Fluid travels one way but valve closes and does not travel back the way it came. Short term relief is putting your feet up above head level when relaxing.

Seems to me like the new mill is equal to adding the 3rd person to the workday. Time is important when it comes to production. As a manager for General Motors for years the fewer steps an employee had to take to do the job the more value, we got for the hour we paid them for. We also had pictures of the different parts of the finished products. Made sure the product was built right. Time really is money. In the early 80's one minute of down time in an assembly plant was $29,000 dollars a minute.

Don’t dig the debarker in to hard into the logs. I’ve done that with my lt40 & it’ll overload it & you have to press the breaker button to reset it.

Your customer is breathing a sigh of relief and you will when the paycheck arrives... Merry CHristmas to the 3 of you!
@timscartoys932118 күн бұрын
I love the features of your new LT40!!! It is a beautiful machine, but short of the full hydraulics and stationary controls, I can't imagine walking back and forth through the sawdust, with it blowing the dust in my face like the non-electronic, non-stationary controlled Woodmizers are!! I had wondered why it didn't have drag back, and I had the same kind of reasoning. I do think you can be more efficient if Brittany doesn't have to walk as far to the chopsaw, and also not have to avoid the saw head coming back. I think if you put a roller conveyor on your right side with a 3 foot gap for you to walk through for loading, would help the helper and the sawyer by helping to stage more and carry less!
@wallacefarmandsawmill18 күн бұрын
Great ideas! We are considering building a 16’ extension on the building and placing the chip saw setup on the far end of the sawmill. I could lift the head up and pull it back, allowing her to grab the boards and pull right to the chop table.
@timscartoys932118 күн бұрын
@@wallacefarmandsawmill That would probably be the most efficient and although being in front of the blade, it is still a lot safer than dodging the blade guide arm that could be sticking way out and moving back quickly!!
@Cotton2Ennis18 күн бұрын
I bet the pallet company is glad you're back. The new sawmill is so much faster and better than the last LT 40 just like that sawmill was much better than the LTW15. I hope Woodmizer gave or is giving you a good deal, since you have done so much publicity for them. Yes Merry Christmas 🎄🎁

You need a saw dust conveyor
@johndyer23618 күн бұрын
Merry Christmas guys, the comment made about a conveyor that woodmizer puts out could save you backs by piling it up into a dumpable container. I know that option is expensive but it could be a timesaver as well as it being better for your lungs. Just a suggestion, take care.
@morgansword18 күн бұрын
Only thing that might be of help would of been a hydraulic log leveler but for this size wood, probably not worth extra cost. Curious tho as to can you still move the log stops individually?
@dougsmith54818 күн бұрын
I don’t know whether it would work in your area or not but you’re off cuts from your 2 x 4 pallet stock if you would cut them again 2 x 2 x 4 pieces bagged them and sell them for smoker wood. Greenwood always smokes better than wood that has been killing dried. God bless merry Christmas to you, your son and the rest of the Farm.❤✌️🇨🇦
