Wallasey At War

A remake of my earlier production, this time with Chamerlain's declaration of War on 03/09/1939 and Churchill's inspirational speech.
These pictures taken from 1940 - 1945 depict the extent of the damage caused by bombing particularly during the blitz of 1941.

My Mum and her family were some of the ones bombed out. Not everyone in her street survived the bombing.

Of course it's Wallasey! If you had grown up in Wallasey you would know that, and I remember my mother telling me what happened when they decided to bomb Merseyside. Many of my relatives were bombed out and were lucky to have survived. jay eva, whoever you are, you just sound very young to me!

If Wallasey wasn't bombed, why did houses in my street simply disappear overnight?

Wallasey was indeed bombed, as was Birkenhead. Bombs fell on Moreton too. Many people on the Wirral, men women and children, were killed by the German bombing. It's being forgotten already... 29th December 2022.
