Best lure I've ever used trolling is the Lindy rig, and Lindy's with a worm harness, but normally troll around .8mph to 1.2mph on either Shade Hill reservoir or Lake Sakakaweia

That does work, an advantage of using the fin-wing spoons is you can cover more water by trolling faster, up to 1.6 mph still works well. Can't go that fast with a spinner usually

Video was good but why would i buy spoons that the fish won't bite. A crawler spinner would more then likely netted you more fish, even a june bug spinner would have done more to make this a better video. I am wondering if you the op has learned anything from the video?

Check out this video, much more catching. Day to day catch rates vary. One of the facts regarding the advantage of the Spoons is you troll faster than spinners and still catch walleyes. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qnLInpyNZqqIhNU

Thank you so much. Been trying to study as much on Walleye fishing as possible. So far had zero luck. Will inline spinner lures work? I have found I really like making my own, including long shank, single Pikerel hook types that can have a curly tail grub or small swim bait loaded on. Sound okay?

Should work, but would work better with a night crawler, or half a crawler when you around smaller fish

@@pztackleandfishingadventur6036 I would need to look into if using live bait is legal here in Canada. (Greetings from Saskatchewan) 😁 I know you can buy frozen minnows for fishing.

I don't fish walleye but my experience with trout is the longer the trace the better. And the clearer the water the longer it needs to be. Basically you don't want anything moving in tandem with the lure the fish can see. So if the water has 6 foot visibility then need a trace longer than 6 foot to any other hardware.
@pztackleandfishingadventur6036
@pztackleandfishingadventur6036 9 ай бұрын
I agree with that statement. The problem is that the underwater camera doesn't have enough range. If I ran the Spoon 6 Feet behind the camera, it won't pick up the lure of fish very well.

So, does this mean Walleye prefer the reel and pause method Like a pike? And want to strike on the pause? Or are walleye a more bottom feeding jig type?
@pztackleandfishingadventur6036
@pztackleandfishingadventur6036 2 жыл бұрын
Reel and pause is always great for Walleye! Especially from spring to early summer. Jerk Baits, blade baits, hair jigs and ripping raps are great tools for that. Changing trolling speeds or turning is also a great tactic to get them to commit.

@@pztackleandfishingadventur6036 thank you!! So far I’ve had ZERO luck trying to get walleye but pike are like cats, pretty fun to attract them. One time my dad and I were on a lake and there were fish jumping out for evening feeding... but could we catch anything? Heck no. And we tried every lure and every method including trolling. Most we got was one fish bit the end off his soft swim bait. Totally ruined that minnow. I do have things like Rat-L-Trap lures. (My dad got a box of 20 of them and a whole other box of fishing stuff at an auction for 25 bucks. (Serious bargain.)

Walleyes are near the bottom. I did not see the bottom in this film.

Dave, that is a myth, Walleye are not always near the bottom. In deep clear lakes, the forage base schools up over the main basin of basin of the lake and the Walleye follow the food source. I was fishing in 50 to 90 feet of water, with the lures down around 25 feet deep.

I hope you realize all bodies of water are different. Sometimes they do follow longer then seconds, especially depending on slows speeds. Also, fish can be in huge school in larger lakes on spot with higher carrying capacity for life. Some lakes can’t carry that many fish per spot or grouping. Also, the catch rate doesn’t make sense becuase you could Litteraly have just found fish to troll over. Or doing smt else but yeah doesn’t make sense. Also the lure selection may have been off.

Hi Nathan, I sure do realize that every body of water is certainly different and the fish that live in each body of water will have unique reactions to lures, presentations, speeds etc. As far as the lure selection is concerned, the goal of the video was to capture underwater video of the Fin-Wing® spoons. If we caught fish or didn't catch fish wasn't the goal of the video. This is the above water catching portion of the video. It also shows all the bait fish that were around and what the Walleye were following. kzbin.info/www/bejne/npvKgYKOiLR-fdE

Larry, Thanks for the comments. The goal of the underwater camera was to get video of the lure underwater. We did catch many fish on other lines while capturing the video. I also have many videos capturing the fish catching ability of the Fin-Wing® spoons. This link kzbin.info/www/bejne/npvKgYKOiLR-fdE is the video of the other lines that were out while the video was running. We certainly caught many more fish on the lines without the camera. Maybe the camera had an affect on the bite. Please take a look at the link, fish were caught while the camera was in the water. Enjoy
