Walleye are the funniest fish ever. We used to fish for them all the time. Try every trick we heard about. Never really caught any. Then one day we are catching little bluegill for limb lines that night. 3 of us using #4 hooks and worms. Having a blast. Then I thought I was hung. My dad about pooped and grabbed the net. I had an 8 pounder on. It literally didn't move 24 inches before it was netted. It hadn't even figured out it was hooked with 4 pound mono on a 1000 class spinner. A true 1 in a lifetime catch. It was a 50/50 with my dad. No way my toothpick and floss would have stopped a full fight. We ate really good. The one fish made a whole family fish fry amd then some.

Try using a heavy musky slip bobber for smaller fish. It casts better and stays put longer. It doesn't just blow away when the wind blows. When weighted properly, it will be almost neutral bouyant and much easier to use. Small fish pull it under just as easily as they would a smaller cork. I put the bobber and proper amount of weights in a zip lock bag. It's ready to go without having to adjusting the weights to attain the proper balance. It looks clumsy, but who cares,
