Hey Wallie, that Ponderosa closed probably just a year ago, me and the family would go there like 2 or 3 times a month, and was shocked when it just up and closed, no warning, just sign on door and that Thank You Warren message on the sign out front... Not sure the reasoning for it closing, as when we were there, it was always quite busy and packed, sometimes needing to wait a few minutes to get an open table... My own feeling on it is the cost of the food and such and paying the wages to the staff got to be to much for the owners.... They still had decent food before it closed, but it was not as good as in past, when they took the chicken wings off the buffet and replaces them with like chicken nuggets you kind of new something was up... but thanks for giving the place a nod for a final time, a lot of great meals, and memories in that place, really wish it was still open....

I grew up going to the sister company Bonanza. Every single year on my birthday, and more than a couple times during the year. My grandparents were the ones that brought me, they are no longer here, and Bonanza shut down during Covid, so this brought back memories, thank you ❤

We had a Ponderosa in Ashtabula, Ohio that closed years ago. During the pandemic it was changed into an Urgent Care Center.

Years ago we had a ponderosa in West Chester pa that must of closed in the 1990s and since then its became doctors offices and in Thorndale pa and in Boyertown pa they had bonanza restaurants the one I Thorndale pa became doctors offices and the one in Boyertown pa became a wawa

There was a really good one in Carrollton, Oh and had a half dozen buffets of food then along came covid and it closed. It did open as another restaurant.

We used to have two of them here but they both mysteriously disappeared and nobody knows why. They both used to look like this one here. I can still taste their Mac and cheese and cookies...

It closed due to issues with the plumbing.. This place was packed constantly!! Interesting that 2 of the three buffets are gone, they were set up in a T fashion. Ponderosa leased the building, the owner after months of trying would not resolve the issues with the plumbing/sewer!! Its a shame really, this was one of the only "buffet" style places left in the area, its been a little over a year since it closed... ALOT of people miss that place... I hoped that the Mod Wash that was built next door was Ponderosa building a new place but, it wasn't meant to be I guess!!

This is a very recent abandonment it was only abandoned last year that's why the sign looks like new and so much looks like it's almost like new still.

I ate there all the time and their food was the bomb and it wasn't that long ago start making me feel old I was actually wondering how the inside looked because it never was clean in the first place but the food as I said was the bomb and I find it funny how I remember when that Burger King in the background was open and the chase in the DIY all at the same time the play place in the background of the Burger King with pretty nice that part of town pretty much got shut down fun fact there was a camper seller next door too.

You can add this to the things you don't miss till it's gone...hard to believe but that area has seen allot of businesses gone..Burger king now closed..the Bank..Ponderosa..DIY closed and gone..there was a Tops grocery store once there and now gone as well..These are prime properties that are sitting empty..Elm road was supposed to be the next 422 strip of what the Eastwood Mall areas looks like

I don't know if that one might be but all the western Pennsylvania Ponderosa restaurants were owned by Armstrong Cable (Technically, the parent, AGOC Armstrong Group of Companies). In the 90s they decided to buy a bunch of them up. I guess that would explain the randomness of it's operation. Restaurants weren't a good idea for a cable operator. I don't know if any of their ownership crossed over the Ohio line.

That Ponderosa was operating thru Covid... it was closed by its franchisee, Armstrong Hospitality... yes Armstrong Cable... they have a location in Calcutta Ohio still

Chase has 2 newer locations in Howland and Champion... that was an old location. That Ponderosa is in Bazetta Township, not Warren, which starts at Sheetz up the street

Bazetta starts in between the freeway & the last road before the exit ramp. And, although that area is technically considered part of Warren, it's actually beyond the city limits & inside of Howland Township. Apparently, only half of Warren is actually in Warren Township.
