Greetings from Northeast Ohio! I stayed this motel when we rode tail of the dragon in 2007. It was owned at the time by the sweetest old couple. The lady made meals every night for us. It wasn't fancy but it was great. Across the road sat a log cabin style home that had horses. It was a great place to relax at the end of a day of riding. Good find and thanks for posting.

Aww man that sounds really nice. Motel owners don't typically do that for their guests these days. I heard from others it was owned by a wonderful older couple. I'm sad to see they let the place go but I guess they wanted to enjoy retirement and their company. The place doesn't have to be like a Hampton Inn for me to enjoy it. I would love to have stayed here just because it seemed so nice and cozy despite being abandoned. I could tell that when it was open, it was a comfortable place to stay. Glad you enjoyed the video.

I’m 71yrs a child of 50s & 60s. Dad took family on vacation every summer, saw every state US except Alaska! Dad always looked for motels or courts an hour or so before sunset so we could swim before dinner & bed. We had great times & US was wonderful back then , almost magical & near perfect. But I also had perfect parents! I’m thankful for memories. You show respect & appreciation for these places & times…thank you for that young man, well done!

I live in the area and just found your video. So glad I did. The original owners built the motel when they were a young couple and ran it until they sold out to their grandson who then sold out to someone else. The guy had big plans for the place and was going to tear down or renovate it. We heard rumors that he may have gotten into some trouble and maybe bankruptcy. He had doors and windows removed and lots of things from motel were taken to local thrift store. So now it sits here looking like this. It was such a beautiful place and the original owners were a wonderful couple. He is now gone but his wife is still living. She lives in the development right across the street from motel. I know this saddens her every time she drives by. They took so much pride in this place. All locals wish someone would buy it and restore it as it’s such an eyesore now and heartbreaking to see in this condition. I really enjoyed your video.

Been by this place many times in the past. It's a shame to see it closed. I think the windows were removed, doors taken off, and other doors unlocked was so people wouldn't bust the glass to get in. Great video!

The crazy thing was when I looked this place up(and per google's reviews on this place), that it looks like this place was open as recently as 2 years ago! I also saw a google street view pic dating from 2015, showing this place was open then. Too bad it shut down, and so many windows and doors were removed randomly from all the rooms. I'm also impressed too that this place hasn't been vandalized, despite it being totally open to the elements.

I have stayed here several times while riding motorcycles up there in the Robbinsville area. I may have been there as late as 2017. Also stayed at nearby Iron Horse. This place was just a quintessential 60s motel that was well cared for and immaculate, though a little rustic. They also had a large banquet type room folks could rent for gatherings. This just pains me. Wonder if covid caused the family to shut it down? What a damn shame. Super sad! Iconic place to stay for motor enthusiasts from all over. First time we stayed there, met some fellow bikers from Kentucky who were there for the Triumph RAT Raid... still super great friends today. Pardon my reminiscing...

@@WallieB26 I remember the last I heard a few months ago in 2021, that the US/Canada land border was still closed. Weird thing is that you still can fly between both countries, albeit supposedly Canada is still requiring travelers to quarantine for 2 weeks. I don't know if there's an exemption to the quarantine rule if you can show proof you were vaccinated, now that so many people are starting to get vaccinations? Hopefully the land border does reopen to travelers, soon.

It hasn't been abandoned too long since. There are reviews on Google on the place which the newest reviews are only 2 years old so this Motel has been permanently closed for 2 years so far. And there are even old photos of the place from reviewers! How I know it's only been shut down for 2 years so far is in the photos with the parking lot filled is there are newer cars from 2 years ago, such as the Nissan 370z! Not to mention this Motel got 4.8 stars in reviews! So I dont know why it shut down permanently!
@WallieB263 жыл бұрын
I saw those reviews! I wondered why it closed and apparently someone said the owners were old and retired and I suppose didn't want it anymore. Its such a shame because it wouldn't take much to get it up and running again. Such a nice looking motel.

11:05 - its entirely possible the windows were framed in aluminum and removed for the metal when you consider some of the damage seen on the walls near copper pipes, electrical wires and missing air conditioners, whoever took metal from this place was not prepared to rip out walls to remove the copper pipes and additional wiring but i suspect by now, its already been done.
